alexthebest29
Hello everyone, im trying to enable brightness control on my Sony Vaio but all i managed to get is the slider in the preference panel... I installed the ACPIBacklight and GenericBrightness kext but nothing happened. The log returns me this: 31.03.15 01:01:02,000 kernel[0]: ACPIBacklightPanel::probe() 31.03.15 01:01:02,000 kernel[0]: ACPIBacklightPanel::findDevices() 31.03.15 01:01:02,000 kernel[0]: ACPIBacklightPanel::hasBacklightMethods() 31.03.15 01:01:02,000 kernel[0]: ACPIBacklightPanel: ACPI device PNLF has _BCL 31.03.15 01:01:02,000 kernel[0]: ACPIBacklightPanel: ACPI device PNLF has XBCM/XBQC 31.03.15 01:01:02,000 kernel[0]: ACPIBacklightPanel: PNLF has backlight Methods 31.03.15 01:01:02,000 kernel[0]: ACPIBacklight: ACPI Methods _DOS _BCL _BCM _BQC found. Gringo Vermelho
I don't know what the log is supposed to say but it doesn't look like there are any error messages. It's not unusual for brightness FN keys to need remapping. If you haven't already, try moving the brightness slider in display preferences. Does your VAIO have Optimus? I guess it's possible that ACPIBacklight.kext is picking up on DSDT backlight code for your Intel HD graphics instead of your nvidia graphics. alexthebest29
Yes it seems that my Nvidia GT540m has the Optimus Technology but i think that Sony disabled the Intel HD Graphics by factory. I already tried moving the slider but with no luck. Edit*** So i found out that my DSDT has a NGFX (Nvidia GT540M) and a GFX0 (Intel HD) device but only the NGFX gets activated and is being recognized by Yosemite. I could try to somehow activate the Intel HD Graphics but not even the DPCI Manager is showing that an Intel HD Graphics Card is even available...
