That's how I solved my problem upgrading from GTx 680 to 980

I have been a very long time Hack user, been through so many issues, and stuffs. Now I am using Clover 3196 to boot, using Gigabyte Z77 MB, everything is very straight forward.

Been using this GTx 680 many years, just sold my Ducati, so I thought I might just do an upgrade, and I bought Gigabyte GTx 980 today. Prepared everything, upgraded Clover, replaced OsxAptioFixDrv with OsxAptioFix2Drv, downloaded and edited the latest web driver to bypass HW check... etc. I was totally expecting a very smooth upgrade (like every time I upgraded actually, which never was the case. LOL). Everything is in place, installed, edited... so I swapped the card, and boooooommmm... Things weren't working as expected, I either get Intel Graphics outputting but Mac thought it was using GTx 980, or the thing just rebooted just before login if I made IGFX as default.

It totally drove me crazy since I spent another 6 hours trying to figure out what I did wrong, maybe clover version? config.plist? web driver installation? I exhausted almost all combinations I could came up with, I actually spent over 6 hours to prepare for the upgrade. Finally, I tried totally disabled IGFX, then the computer wouldn't go pass BIO loading screen and just loop there gave me a beep every min or so. I didn't know what was going on, I just thought that maybe I hard rest the computer too many times. after a couple of times like that, it was then I realised... oh {censored}... I needed to update the BIOS.

Obviously, everything just works after I updated the BIOS.

So if you have a MB that's a few years old, it may be worth noting that BIOS firmware can break things if you throw it something really recent, especially display card.

Hope this help someone.
