Asus P5KPL-CM - 10.9.5 working

Just a quick note to let you know I made a computer out of spare parts -- I originally tried a Radeon HD 4650, but this was a faulty card...

It is now:

Asus P5KPL-CM with Core-2-Duo 2.53GHz

2 GB DDR2 667MHz RAM

500GB HDD

SATA DVD-RW

NVIDIA QuadroFX 370

Used existing HDD from old hackintosh (10.9.5), needed to remove ssdt.aml and ssdt_pr.aml from /Extra (caused black screen/lockups).

Using VoodooHDA 2.8.4 and AttansicL1eEthernet.kext -- Chimera 3.0.1 bootloader, with GraphicsEnabler=Yes

smbios=MacPro3,1

NOTE: Shutdown not working correctly, will try with EvoReboot.kext shortly.

Everything else seems to be working fine, even with only 2GB RAM.

And Sleep works perfectly as well !!!!

This is the exact same install as my MSI P67A-GD55(B3) also on this forum, just without the SSDT revogirl script creation phase (no SSDT.aml or ssdt_pr.aml files in /Extra).

I am using a graphics card that requires GE=Yes.

Installed VoodooHDA 2.8.4 and working great.

EvoReboot must have worked, as reboot/shutdown now working (with 15sec wait).

Unfortunately, 4GB is max RAM for this MOBO (picking up 4GB this weekend -- and possibly a Core-2-Quad Q9550 - 2.83GHz)

one 2GB stick of that DDR2 RAM I picked up was faulty (overheating? causing lockups -- even with exact RAM specs set in BIOS). It works fine with the other 2GB stick, but I would rather have working dual-channel 2GB machine than a frankenstein 3GB machine.

I have rebuilt the machine for a friend who's laptop just blew up, so she can do her Facebook or whatever. I have saved the OS X drive, so can go back the moment it returns - Win7 runs pretty well on this machine with only 2GB. Got 1.4GB available RAM after OS loads. :-)

  • 1 month later...

I now have 2x2GB RAM (phew), and it is 800MHz, working beautifully.

NOTE: I should have said earlier that I needed to INJECT device-properties for GeForce 9500GT 1GB to get past the black screen issue. Now it is in boot.plist, graphics are working perfectly. Took a long time to figure this one out... so I thought I would give you the heads-up. Remove all GeF* and NVDA* kexts to another folder (on desktop), then touch S/L/E and reboot. Make the changes (I used OSX86Tools) manually copied the hex string to org.chameleon.Boot.plist under <key>device-properties</key> and <string>very...long...hex...string...</string>

Replaced nvidia kexts from another 10.9.5 install (to be sure I had the correct ones installed)... had to Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility, as none of my NVIDIA kexts had execute permissions (may have been that way from the start!???)

Anyways, now you know how...
