WaldMeister
Hi, So the AR5BW222 delivered with this system is not compatible with OS X. I tried to replace it with the Atheros AR9285 but i could not get a signal. The card was recognized, but no networks were found, not in OS X, Windows or Linux. So i ordered the AR5B93, which is compatible OOB with OS X, same problem occurred. I think somehow the bios blocks the cards from functioning. Anyone with a card confirmed to work with the V5-571x systems ( They all share the same bios.) A Broadcom would be my next option, but i would like confirmation before spending more on this. Thanks in advance.
artur_pt
hello if u use a card work OOB .. ur bios must have a whitelist.. u can try to ask to acer .. so or u mod the bios or use one from the withelist compatible with os x https://www.bios-mods.com good hack
WaldMeister
Hi artur, I checked for a whitelist by opening the bios in phoenix bios editor, following a guide to determine, seems there is no whitelist. There is no unlocked bios for this model, except the first or second version. On boot there is also no warning that the new device is blocked, it is recognized, drivers are loaded, somehow the devices just do not pick up any networks. The antenna was attached correctly on all devices, it only works in Linux and Windows with the AR5BW222. The AR cards are ok, i tested them on the Dell 7720.
