JolarEQ
Greetings! This is my first post on this forum (by the way, love the quizzes to get access to be able to post!) I am trying to install Yosemite on either Workstation 11 or ESXi 5.5, whichever will work for me. So far, neither of them do. I've followed along with the thread here and have done what I believe to be all that is required. However, neither have worked. The following are screenshots I took with what is happening: On Workstation 11:Here I also received the error "The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. Power off or reset the virtual machine." when starting Yosemite on Workstation 11. On ESXi 5.5:Here Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! chuckremes
First of all, make sure you pay attention to the details in the README for Unlocker2. It specifically says that you should set the VMware hardware version to 10. Also, I recommend choosing OS X 10.9 from the drop-down when telling VMware what version you are installing. I had trouble when I used 10.10 but no trouble when I used 10.9 (even though I installed 10.10). Second, once you are installed make sure you set the darwin.iso up to mount in the guest. Install those tools ASAP and reboot. I can't help with the ESXi question.
JolarEQ
Thanks for the info. I tried rebuilding with the tips you gave and I still come up with the same problem.Of course, I guess I should mention that I am using an AMD chip. That shouldn't be a problem, correct? I know I can get Mountain Lion to work, but would like the latest version running if I can.

Yes AMD is an issue you need to use an AMD built kernel. You cannot use the released version of any OS X without modification on AMD.
JolarEQ
Ahh, ok. So I'll have to search for it. I did manage to get it working on ESXi 5.5, which is nice, I just have to figure out how to get the screen bigger than 1024x768!
Donk
Try this forum group http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/forum/318-amd-development/, not an AMD user so don't have any good advice.
