Hey guys today i tried to hackintosh my old pc. I tried booting iatkos v7 on it but it directly went to the ubuntu bootloader. (I settled it up for booting from cd/dvd. Then i tried using empire efi to boot but that didn't boot too. Then i tried putting a windows cd in to the pc and it booted up just fine. I was wondering if you could help me. Thanks :)

Specs:

3.0 Ghz pentium 4

1gb 400 Mhz DDR Ram

128mb Nvidia Geforce Fx 5200

Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet

Btw which version of OS X will be the best for it?

Thanks Again

I'd have to google that. Be careful, because you'll be running Leopard, someone saying that some card is "supported by OS X" is not enough. You'll want something that's old enough to be supported in Leopard.

You need to make sure you find a Wifi card that is old enough that it has 32-bit drivers - you will not be able to run OS X in 64-bit mode with your CPU, the model 745 is 32-bit only.

This means that with the CPU you have the highest you can go is 10.7.5 - but for that you'd need a series 8 Geforce card. I guess your motherboard is old enough to have an AGP slot instead of PCI-Express so it would have to be an AGP card. Those are probably not easy to find.

Intel Macs never had AGP ports so OS X has no AGP driver for Intel, data will travel at regular PCI speed to and from the video card. It's good enough for desktop work but forget gaming above 640x480.

Chipset is North+ Southbridge. You only mentioned your Northbridge, and that was copy pasted from somewhere. Before you start - know your hardware. It is either one of the three versions of the 865 or the 848p. It can't be all of them at the same time.

That said, your Southbridge is most likely the ICH5 - don't try to use the PATA and the SATA ports at the same time unless you're prepared to lose your hair. Stick with SATA and disable the PATA ports.

His limit is 10.5.5 with the hardware he has. There is no support for Geforce 5 series cards in Snow Leopard.

I remember having a hard time getting PATA and SATA to work at the same time on my first hackintosh. Asus P5P800-SE board, i865PE with ICH5.

Lion requires a 64-bit CPU when running in 32-bit kernel and drivers mode?

I have a photo of the mainboard section on cpu-z
Hope it will be enough.

Enough for what? As you can see yourself, there is no new information in that picture.

For your hardware, I recommend the "JaS 10.5.4 Client/Server" distro. It probably won't be easy to find..

Don't be such a noob. It could be for any one in a million reasons. What are we supposed to do, guess?

Boot in verbose mode and post a photo or something. More information = better help

You have already been told that you will not be able to run anything higher than 10.5.5 with the hardware you have. Unless you have bought new hardware, this has not changed.

"my computer doesn't wanna boot anything OS X related" is not very specific, we can help you but please post exactly what you're doing.

Leopard would Defiantly be Best, Although you Might be Able to run Snow Leopard

If you Would Like to Install SnowLeo Follow These Steps (I have installed on a P4 Multiple Times with this Method)

1.) Burn a Nawcom Mod cd

2.) Boot from it and Switch the Nawcom cd for a Retail (Has to be Retail you can get them for about $20) SnowLeo DVD

3.) Go to Utilities>Disk Utility and Erase your Main HDD in Mac OS Extended

4.) Click Customize and Check the Things you Want to install

5.) Click Install (The Install Will Take about 30-20 minutes)

Chameleon Will be Taken Care of by the Nawcom cd.

Here is a Link to some Realtek Drivers (I did not test them Myself)
