Exmoor framebuffer is used for laptops not desktops, should be using Baladi framebuffer

Good point. Works fine with Baladi too.

Worth noting is that when you copy the Frameworks across, you need to preserve the symbolic links inside.

Hi, Can someone tell me if Sapphire 290X Reference Card works on Yosemite? Thanks.

UPDATE:

Yes, Sapphire 290X works perfect with 3 monitors. No patches, no injection.

I don´t have DPort.

I thinks a fresh install, clean from Clover could help. That´s work for me.

Tanks Rampage Dev ;)

So I've upgraded to 10.11 (El Capitan)  on both of my machines. I've also renamed this topic...

I can only get one monitor working on my primary card, however, on the 2nd card I can run 3 monitors from boot. I'm not injecting ATI and it looks like I'm running RadeonFramebuffer.

I'm actually pretty happy with that as I can run all of my 4 monitors. I've not had a spinning deadlock on desktop yet which happened occasionally on the multi-gpu machine with  10.10 (Yosemite) .

On the other machine I'm only running one GPU at the moment (the MSI Lightning) with a 1440P Dual-link x-star monitor. I'm also trying (unsuccessfully)  to run a ancient Sony Grand Wega 720p TV on the HDMI.

I put the other r9 290x in a 8320 FX for W10 so I don't want to put it back in the xeon computer.

Has anyone gotten multiple monitors working on a r9 290x using any of the other framebufferes? So far if try anything the dual-link DVI 1440p monitor goes black.

The other thing I found is not to swap the SSDs and boot. Managed to break my apple logins and had to reinstall!

Thanks!

my 290x works fine both monitors

Hello everybody,

got my MP mid 2010 with 290x with the screen flickering randomly at any resolution. Tried fresh install of 10.11 but didn't solve. I work with only one monitor (PA301W). Tried another 290x from my colleague and... same problem.

I don't understand if your 290x did work OOTB or you managed to use Clover to change parameters.

Thanks,

G.

my 290x works fine both monitors

I'm only able to get one working. I've tried HDMI and DisplayPort.

The only thing I've not tried is the other DVD with HDMI converter....

I'm considering going back two using two 290x in that machine....

Thanks

EDIT:

I tried the 2nd DVI port with HDMI adapter and still did not get a desktop.

I decided to add another R9 290x to this machine as well. A Gigabyte Windforce 3X. I ended up putting two GTX 760s in the machine that came from. The to make room for the 2nd GPU i had to remove my Asus PCE-AC68 wifi board. Finally, to get around not having that, I'm using a ethernet media bridge.

Anyway, it seems like a lot of work to get a 2nd monitor going.

This setting gives me Baladi with EL Captain with HDMI working. I'll try it with the other computer with lightning to see if it brings more ports...

I've tried this settings for my R9 290 (non X) and FakeID 0x67B01002, and I can't get HDMI to work properly.

I get random blinkings and black screen.

I've used an DP to HDMI adaptor too, with the same results.

Everything works 100% OK on Yosemite, I don't know what's wrong with El Capitan.

Any idea to solve this ?

So I got everything up and running in 10.11.2, but I have 1 issue.

If I do a fresh boot, my video works perfectly. Full QE/CI everything works perfectly. If I turn the monitor off or let the monitor go to sleep, when it comes on again I will have horizontal waves of sync loss that will continue until I reboot. QE/CI and hardware acceleration still work ok. I can play 4k videos smoothly and run 3D programs, there's just glitchy-ness.

If I reboot it will work rock solid for hours and hours, until I let it sleep or turn off the monitor again. Also, it works perfectly fine in Windows.

4930k

32Gb Ram

Sapphire Radeon 290x

Gigabyte X79-UP4

Dell 2715Q 4k monitor with latest A03 firmware revision. Running at native 4k @ 60hz resolution on Displayport

I have one output that goes to a splitter and i send the signal to both a 1080p LG monitor and 1080p samsung TV. If i turn the TV on after the monitor is on, I get those same tearing glitches.

Anyway, for me, the fix is to go into displays properties, set the monitor to scaled, switch to 1080i or 720p and then back to 1080p and the glitches disappear.

Has anyone noticed that the Baladi framebuffer personality is no longer in AMD8000Controller.kext? I've been banging my head against El Capitan trying to get my MSI 290x Lightning up and running again with three monitors after I upgraded to El Capitan from Yosemite. Things were working perfectly in Yosemite, but all of a sudden I only get a black screen in El Capitan. I had used a framebuffer patch that I think I found in this thread. But now, I've tried numerous patches, and have been attempting to create my own, but nothing is working. I've tried shuffling around the data a bit and even changed the the ATY,ControlFlags based on the other options though it seems everyone has always used the defaults suggested in all the various guides.

After copying the Info.plist from AMD8000Controller.kext to another drive which I mounted while in single user mode, I pulled that up in Windows and notice that Exmoor is the only personality! Has anyone else taken a look? I would have figured this would be known by now, so I'm wondering if something happened to my copy of the controller kext and it actually should still have the Baladi personality in it?

I'm going to give Exmoor a shot I guess, see if patching that might make a difference without introducing a load of bugs or otherwise taking me one step forward and two steps back (i.e. displays functioning but loss of performance or downclocking or anything that was previously working)

Try without patch, without injection. That works OOB for me.

That would work for 390X cards too, right?

What's the framebuffer patch (for Baladi) for 10.11 you're using?

Just did the backport for my powercolor devil 390x works great, used terminal from within the installer. cp -R will preserve the symbilic links, I rm -R'd everything that I replaced after backing them up then did the copy. No patched framebuffer. Using exmoor as that is the only personality I saw in the .plist.
