Hello Folks!

i'm new to this stuff (started 3 days ago)

i read through loads of pages, which all say it is possible to get my laptop running with10.8, not more.

after one and a half day of failures i decided to make more out of the hassle.

i started all over with 10.10 Yosemite.

after another day of trying i finally got Yosemite installed!

Hardware Spec:

Core i5 430M

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (512MB)

4GB RAM

LAN: Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet (Untested)

SATA drive with 320 GB by Hitachi (HTS545032B9A) that runs at 5400 rpm

WLAN: model: Atheros AR5B93 (what windows says) - chip should be AR9283

Audio: HDA

Webcam: Crystal Eye webcam

Status: Working - Untested - Fail

HDD

RAM

Graphics (though some state out its not supported by Yosemite?!)

Sound

Webcam

LAN

WLAN (FIXED)

My Question here is now the following:

i created a bootable usb stick with clover, my custom dsdt.aml and my kexts.

when i boot up the installer (when i see the welcome screen, where i can run Disk Utility)

i can connect to my WLAN, and the WLAN card is recognized as

Atheros 9280 - Airport Extreme!

but after setup in Yosemite, its not working/showing up.

when i look up harware with DPCIManager.app its showing up under pci.

pressing the enable-button on the laptop has no effect (as no drivers loaded?)

i tried these kext:

IO80211Family.kext

IONetworkingFamily.kext

i installed ALL the kext i used on my usb stick to yosemite using the DPCIManager.app.

the only thing i do not know where to put is my DSDT.aml

i did not set up Clover on this drive yet!

hopefully one of you got an idea how to get the WLAN working as its {censored} to boot between windows and osx just for browsing the web....

FIXED BY REPLACING ORIGINAL YOSEMITE KEXT back, rather than the kext from the thread below

PS: a nice helping thread was this one

PPS: if anyone needs more information let me know - i'll also assist someone else IFF i am able to!

Hi,

First use your vanilla kexts of IO80211Family.kextIONetworkingFamily.kext then use rehabman's repository in MaciASL (see here) and patch your DSDT, and use the one that patches your DSDT (it may need some edits about the devID and venID, it's easy :) )

if it still doesn't work, just install WiFiInjector.kext (found here in the HVT)

Good luck :)

Thanks midi!

today i booted into setup and took a screenshot about wifi

afterwards i did the same in yosemite.

and i noticed a difference (i only write the diff here):

Installer (working):

IO80211 Familiy: 7.0 (700.52)

Diagnostics: Not Installed

Airport Utility: Not Installed

Yosemite (not working:

IO80211 Family: 6.0 (600.31)

Diagnostics: 4.0

Airport Utility: 6.3.4

so for me it seems the IO80211 Family is old version (so i 'only' need the original kexts)

where can i get vanilla kexts of IO80211Family.kext & IONetworkingFamily.kext (cant find em in my Install OS X Yosemite.app) as i deleted them and replaced em with the others (instead of a backup - will never do that again ;-) )

Vanilla kexts are the original untouched kexts, reinstalling os x will put them back, and older/newer version wont make difference, just install the wifiinjector.kext from the hvt tool.

Btw looks weird that the installer got a newer version than the os x installed.

i know what vanilla kexts are ;-)

i'm just too lazy to reinstall.

i got a friends macbook, which i updated to 10.10.2 and grabbed his kexts (i overwrote mine with the kext files from the other thread, which are older version, thats why mine got v6 installed)

so no need to patch/hack on this card :D

so WLAN is online now!!

other stuff to be updated
