Lord Kamina
So... I know HWMonitor has a fan controlling module, which can be accessed by hovering over the fans on the list of sensors. I also know this dialog does not generally show on hackintosh. There is evidently something the program is looking for, and that something determines whether to show it or not. I'm trying to figure out what that check is... Anybody familiar with the HWMonitor code, that might give me a hand with this?.
Maniac10
Even though there's fan control in HWMnonitor it's not really reliable yet (at least on my experience). And if you want to see the sources check kozlek's HWSensors GitHub project, specifically the SuperIOSensors folder where you can see the supported chips and models. There you can also ask the dev what you need to enable fan control for the super io chip (usually ITE or Winbond) on your motherboard.
Lord Kamina
I have seen the source and I know what chips are supported; my board uses Fintek. Either way, I tried looking at the source but couldn't really find what enables the fan control (i.e. what is it not finding that the software does not even bother to show me the options)

Maniac10
I have seen the source and I know what chips are supported; my board uses Fintek. I have bad news for you then. Try asking kozlek again, maybe now he's got some time to add the functionality.
Lord Kamina
{censored}. On the other hand, that's not NECESSARILY that bad; since it means the fan controllers are being disabled as of now just by checking if the chip is a fintek, and I can at least try to do a bit of research of my own regard fintek fan control in general. Thanks!
