Tired.

Been following guides to install Yosemite (download it from AppStore) for weeks without success.

From all guides I've tried, the further I was taken are:

Installing Mavericks/Yosemite using Chameleon (Legacy BIOS)

Chronology and Problem:

Follow the guide to create the installer very carefully,

Turn On my PC,

press F8 to select boot from USB,

boot from USB Flash Disk Installer allright,

start installing, Chameleon Interface, select the UFD, waiting for scrolling 'prompt', and when scrolling was over...

Then...empty textured grey screen for seconds, and...REBOOT by itself. Always like that even if I try almost all of 'standard' Boot Flags.

or maybe this one:

[NEW]_USB Installer_OS X Yosemite Chameleon_r2549 V6

Problem:

After 'scrolling' prompt, the monitor screen goes blank (No Signal).

What's the matter?

Any help please?

my spec:

Intel Core 2Duo E7300 @2.66, Asus P5KPL SE, Asus EN8400GS 512M. Now smoothly running Mavericks 10.9.5.

this same old PC has already proven to be smoothly installed and ran OSX- from 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 and 10.9 with "retail method".

It should be OK too for 10.10 right? (CMIIW)

Help Please.

And Thank You in advance.

  • 2 weeks later...

(if using Clover, which I'd recommend) . . . . add to boot arguments

nv_disable=1

. . . . . this will tell you if the issue is with the inbuilt Nvidia driver: if it is you can install the web driver, removing above argument and adding

nvda_drv=1

Set Graphics Card as your Primary Video Adapter in BIOS and Disable your internal graphics.

Then try booting with flags "PCIRootUID=1 GraphicsEnabler=Yes"

Good Luck..!

Thanks, but..

Last time I used Clover, they didn't bring me further than when I used Chameleon. I've been used to Chameleon for long time, so I think I'd better stay with it. I strongly think it's not because Chameleon nor Clover vs Chameleon problem.

I also already tried the nv_disable=1 flag, although with the chameleon..result is the same as before.

My motherboard/system doesn't have internal graphic

I also think I had tried the flag PCIRootUID=1 before, also the GraphicsEnabler=Yes

but I'll try them again later and tell you what happen.

We have to use the bootflags based on the devices using and what issue we are facing.

Here you have the GeForce 8400GS graphics card and through chameleon graphics injection it will provide full QE/CI for this card.

So trying bootflag combination "GraphicsEnabler=Yes PCIRootUID=1" may resolve your issue if it is related with graphics card.

Note: Try only with above mentioned boot flags, do not add/remove any flags.

If that is giving the same problem, use flags "-v -f" along with above mentioned flags and share a photo of the frozen screen.

Good Luck...!

I have tried it.

Same result.

even if I added -v -f flags along with GraphicsEnabler=Yes PCIRootUID=1 ... it's the same...it was not frozen, it was restart,..

Before restart, on the screen was this contoured grey wallpaper:

.png (will be added)

Before that contoured gray wallpaper, the last of the scrolling text prompt of the process was like this:

.png

any more clue?

Not able to see images..

wait.. the first try I didn't took the pictures, I was just gonna try it once again with my camera ready (too bad only my cell phone camera).. but this second try, the result was different,.. my pc wasn't self restarted, instead it stopped at the black screen blank without any activities... I'd try it again...sorry this is the same pc I use for typing this...

(anyway, big thanks, I really glad & appreciate your attention to help me here)....wait, I'll try & reporting again ASAP

You know what,..I've tried it for about five times, but it's really not easy to capture the (last) images on the screen with my camera, as at the very last text (just before it goes blank), it was scrolling and only last for 1 second or so, before the screen goes blank (where "no input", said my monitor..now it was not restarted, instead it was just stay blank like that).

I'll try again my best luck to be able to trigger my camera button (to capture) at that very last text line.

Which port(DVI/VGA) you are using in your graphics card for connecting monitor?

No need to try to take the pics if the screen is turning to black and not rebooting. That means your installer already loaded required files and it is ready installation. But the problem is it not visible on the screen, might be redirecting output to other graphic port. Try with another port on the graphics card.

My monitor is now connected to the "VGA port" of the Graphic Card.

OK,..I'll try to connect the monitor to the Graphic Card's "DVI Port", but before that, I have to find my old VGA to DVI adapter first, I forget where did I store it last time :)

I'll be reporting later.

May you can try this:

Boot into single user mode using flags -v -f -s

Make a folder named Backup and move all the graphics related kexts from /System/Library/Extensions to the Backup folder using the following command:

fsck -fy

mount -uw /

mkdir Backup

cd /System/Library/Extensions

mv -f ATI* AMD* NVD* GeForce* AppleIntelHD* AppleIntelFramebuffer* AppleIntelSNB* /Backup

touch /System/Library/Extensions

reboot

Now this should help you to go to the installer screen using the VGA port. But remember you might not get native/full resolution and acceleration.

Once you install the OS X successfully, then you can restore the proper kexts needed and do the necessary dsdt and kext patching.

Start with -v -f.  If machine stop AppleKextExcludeList.kext, then open

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleKextExcludeList.kext/Contents/Info.plist with textedit.

Kill everything between:

<key>OSKextExcludeList</key>

<dict>
"Kill everything" = delete every line.
</dict>

then try again.

Hope this helps.

Thank You for all the reply,..sorry to reply late, and it's still not a good news yet

With the monitor connected to the DVI port, the result was just the same..  :(

I think I don't need to do it since now I connect my monitor to the Graphic Card's DVI port. But nice info anyway, thanks.

My last gaming machine was a Core2Duo E6700 powered machine with asus p5n32 sli se deluxe board and a GTX 280. I couldn't get it to boot either. It was the same problem. I tried EVERY method out there from 10.5 -10.8 NOTHING. Its hopeless i think :). But you could anyways try this guide : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56623-official-osx86-installation-on-asus-p5n32-sli-or-deluxe/

I'm more fortunate than you actually, because this my exactly same machine (Intel Core 2Duo E7300 @2.66, Asus P5KPL SE, Asus EN8400GS 512M) have been succesful when I hackintoshed it since 2009, from 10.6, 10.7,10.8,10.9, various method tried, almost all were succed, although I opt to do 'the retail method'. In fact, it is smoothly running on 10.9.5 now.

The trouble is only with 10.10 a.k.a. Yosemite, and I'm curious, because I think logically it should be smooth too.

But thank you for the link, anyway. I'll check it out later.

You have a different board and my cpu was E6700 and yours E7300 :)

Yes I know. I typed "this my exactly same machine..." was refer to how my same machine were succesful to hackintoshing all the OS X versions since Snow Leopard, but the 10.10, and how I even use the same machine to type this right now on Mavericks :)

Now, will the guide in the link you gave works for me? since it's specifically for your type of board. (but I'll still check it out and perhaps also try it later anyway).
