blueblur1986
Ok, I've been scouring the web and various forums for 2 days trying to get this to work without having to ask for help, but I am having no luck, so here I am. First, the specs on the HP g7 I'm trying to install to: Intel i3-3110M 2.4GHZ Processor Intel HD graphics 4000 Intel HM76 Express Chipset 4GB DDR3 RAM 750GB 5400RPM hard drive 2x USB 3.0 Ports, 1x USB 2.0 port 17.3" 1600 x 900 LED Display I thought this was pretty similar to the iMac13,1 for education that had an Intel Core i3-3225, 4GB RAM, and Intel HD 4000 graphics, so it should boot with minimal work and issues. I was wrong. I am not worried about WiFi right now because I know I can swap the card for a working one later. Anyway, I wanted to use native UEFI for speed and 'vanilla'-ness, so I make a Yosemite USB install drive and installed Clover to it (latest as of 01/27/15). I disabled Virtualization and Secureboot in the UEFI settings and booted off the flash drive. Immediately I got a kernel panic from AppleIntelCPUManagement. I read somewhere online that deleting it sometimes solves the issue, so I deleted it (actually moved it to the desktop of the Mac I was working off of) and it still threw the same panic on the same file. I also found an Asus with the same chipset and similar CPU and copied it's KEXTs and other files, and it still threw the same error. I started digging online for DSDT files for similar HP laptops and got one for a ProBook. Booting with that got be a little further, but then it threw a panic about AppleACPIPlatform claiming "Should have 4 threads, but only found 5 for die0" which has to be the most bizarre error I've read in a while. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated trying to figure this thing out, because it's driving me nuts!
artur_pt
hello never use a dsdt from another machine KernelAndKextPatches <key>AsusAICPUPM</key> <true/> enable that in clover and should't remove the kext should use a proper smbios like macbookpro9,1 good hack
blueblur1986
I put back the kexts, I enabled that line in Clover, and I tried changing the SMBIOS options in the config file (I didn't have an Extras folder on any partition with an SMBIOS file in it) but still am stuck. I decided to try to start from scratch, adding in a few kexts (FakeSMC and NullCPUManagement) and it got a little further, but now panics with "Local APIC error." blueblur1986
Now we're getting somewhere! I changed KernalLapic to true and now I am pretty sure it gets all the way to the graphical install, but that's when the screen just turns black. And not just black, but it's like it turned my laptop display off completely because there's no backlight even on. I don't have an external monitor to test if it's trying to push out the display through HDMI. EDIT: I found a config with 1600x900 HD4000 graphics and used that section to replace the graphics section in my config file and IT WORKS! I am installing with about 4 minutes remaining right now. My next trick is to get working kexts for the rest f the system, but at least it's able to boot into the installer now.
