G41M-ES2L - Xeon 5430 - Yosemite Couldn't Install

Hi All,

Been a member on this forum for quite a while now, just reading and lurking, Recently I decided to upgrade my 5 year old Hack.  My hack was quite happy running SL with my E5200 C2D but I managed to pick up a Xeon super cheap (under £10) and the mod sticker to go with it,

my mission was to try to get my hack up to mavericks or Yosemite, figured i would start at the top...

So i got hold of Niresh's version of Yosemite and set about trying to install the trouble is that i always get right to the end of the installation and get the error "OS X couldn't be installed" and i get a log file or it reboots starts the boot sequence then my monitor turns off...

my question is in this massive log file what am i looking for as the fail point? would it be the start of the log before all the report crash's?

as for the monitor turning off im guessing this is a graphics issue? although i was under the impression that the 9800GT was supported? (cant remember the steps i took for SL now as it was so long ago...)

Any help appreciated at this point im even willing to accept the verbal spanking :D

Thanks

Daz

PS. Can attach log when i get home, at work at the mo

Ok finally got it working, did end up using the zone version, after reseting to optimised defaults in the bios, also found onesone else on here with the same board and a working Dsdt,

so now i have Yosemite working with sleep mode (wake up is a little clumsy with my apple magic mouse and bluetooth keyboard, I have to press power to wake it up. not sure if there is any other way.. to the search!)

otherwise seems to be working well, the Xeon mod on this board is a must to anyone running a plain core 2!

Cheers

Daz

www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-guides/145284-gigabyte-ga-g41m-combo-rev-1-3-1-4-fully-working-yosemite.html

these are the 2 guides that i used,

the real help was setting the bios to optimized defaults first and then setting HPET to 64bit in the bios,

I then used the hackintosh zone usb installer created using transmac.

follow the top link guide and let me know how you get on.
