kaipolygon
Okay so I was looking around on how to install OSX Yosemite and got really confused by all the different methods and such... I also didn't know if my parts were compatible... So is there a complete beginners guide for me? Things to note: I have 2 hard drives, one for Windows 8, the other for Windows 7, but I would like to install Mac OSX on a partition split from the Windows 8 one (I can allocate about ~450 GB to that partition. Specs:CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.50 GHz Instructions SSE2 (since I saw that as a requirement) Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula Rev. 1.xx RAM: 4 GB GPU: GeForce 9600 GT Storage: 931GB HDD, SATA II (I believe so) Moreover, what was that stuff about having to change the mode that Windows runs in to switch over to OSX? Sorry if these questions sound stupid I'm completely new at this EDIT: Sorry I forgot to mention I don't have access to a Mac or anyone else that has one so if there is another method. If it's a problem of getting to ISO file then I can probably ask a friend to get that for me but I don't think I could do anything else other than get the file. kaipolygon
Thank you so much for the reply lol! I was scared someone might not be able to help me lol... But with that Chameleon thing, it looks like I have to reinstall Windows... if 1) I make a partition for OS X can I still boot Windows 8, Windows 7, and OS X? Moreover if I have to reinstall Windows does that mean I lose all my files? Sorry I don't wanna do anything that'll cause me to lose anything on this computer haha... EDIT: Sorry also what are some problems you think I may encounter while using Mac? Such as like keyboardwise, Reading through the tutorial, and saw I need kets, what exactly are those, which ones do I need, and where do I get them? Also how do I find What drivers I need when I install OS X? Sorry for all teh questions hhaha
Allan
When you start using hackintosh, probably you can lose some files, and we recommend you always make a backup. About keyboard, is simple, in some cases you need change the layout for your language, and is better use USB type.
kaipolygon
Okay, what about the drivers and kekts? I'm kinda confused about those.
Allan
About kexts: FakeSMC - It is the most important kext for the system, it is not possible to use a Hackintosh without it. AICPM - Native power management, maybe you can use or not. NullCPUPM - This kext disable the AICPM, just use it if is necessary, but we can help you in this case. First, install the FakeSMC: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hwsensors/ Just select, FakeSMC, CPUMonitor and ACPI monitor, the GPUmonitor you can use later.
