Rampage Dev
Hi, I would like to know if I can have a successful install of yosemite with this motherboard. I tried with Clover and Chameleon with no result. I have a problem with configuring config.plist Thanks for help Use my install guide found here: http://www.rampagedev.com/?page_id=144 Then use the Haswell DMG found here: http://www.rampagedev.com/?page_id=50 If the default Clover config does not work use the one on the Haswell DMG. Also you may need to select Nvidia injection with the GPU that you have listed in your signature. Good luck.
bdmcgregor
Evening Rampage Dev, So I've been attempting a build with this motherboard for the past week or so with no success. To be more specific, here's the hardware. Intel i5 - 4590S Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 4 GB GSkill Ripjaw X DDR3 1600 1 TB WD Blue @ 7,200 RPM With Chameleon, I consistently run into an onboard network card error, labeled as follows : "Realtek 8111 (Ethernet) Region #2 not a valid MMIO resource, aborting", followed by a repeating "Still waiting on root device" message. With Clover, I can get to the installer, and through it, but get no audio output devices regardless of how many times I installed the .kext for it (Realtek ALC 887) from #####. However, and here's the game breaker, once Clover's setup on the main HDD, it refuses to boot into the installation again from either the flash drive with Install OSX and Clover, or the HDD by itself. I CAN boot the same Clover-based installation, if I use a #####/Chameleon boot loader flash drive, but get an on-board video bug that only registers 3MB of VRAM which makes the system incredibly slow. Also, when I mount the EFI in the terminal, it once again renders both disks un-bootable. The audio and video issues I'm not so much concerned about, as those can be worked out later, but if you have any suggestions for .kexts and my hardware, please share. At the moment I'd like to know why I can't mount and set the EFI without breaking both boot loaders some how. I've also installed this on my main rig (in signature) on a separate hard drive using Chameleon/##### and it worked almost perfectly except for a graphics card issue I was having. Was also much easier in comparison even though it's not technically a OOB/Hackintosh solution. I'm completely and utterly stumped at this point, so any insight or recommendations would be greatly welcomed, appreciated and accepted. Thanks

bdmcgregor
Just to clarify, because your response is some what lacking. In my previous Clover installs, I followed the guides to the letter and still ran into issues during the post installations phases as I'd mentioned above. Also, if I do successfully get it installed, and bootable, but there are still no audio output devices being shown, is there also something in that folder above to remedy that as well or no? If not, my specs are above, and I'd like to know if there is something I specifically need to do in order to get it working. The Z97-HD3 uses the Realtek ALC 887 onboard audio. Also, in your guide when it says to install the kexts into the EFI/CLOVER/kexts, which kexts should I be installing for my setup? Thanks

bdmcgregor
Apparently you missed the part where I said "to the letter". I'm quite capable of reading, and following, every little detail. I've also done this before on a few different builds. This one is has been the only one to give me an issue. I'll run the setup again tonight, using your guide, if I run in to the same issues I'll post images.

Thanks I've got a similar config to yours... check my sig, I used Clover to install, and also to boot. I had 2 seperate USB sticks, one with Clover and one with base system and installer packages. No audio working yet but I'm sure its ALC885 on the HD3... I can boot using the Clover USB but not with the EFI install I have done. Will have to try the haswell DMG from rampagedev. bdmcgregor
Alright, so it's been a bit since I last posted for obvious reasons, i.e. holidays etc.. I solved a few different issues, and now get much farther in the boot loader, but eventually get stopped at a DSMOS has arrived error. Based off of what I've read, this is a graphics driver issue. My config.plist is currently configured as such for graphics settings during the OS X Setup boot process. <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>ATI</key> <false/> <key>Intel</key> <true/> <key>NVidia</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> Should it be set-up without any injections as Intel is natively supported both in the installation and in OS X itself? If you need me to attach the full config.plist, I'd be more than happy to. Thanks
kvonlinee
To bcmcgergor, can you list what hardware on the current machine you have tried to run OSX on it? I am lost on what hardware, you can't tell how to fix.
bdmcgregor
Sorry Kvonlinee, it's quoted two posts up from yours, but here it is again for you. Intel I5-4590s (stock clock) Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 4 GB GSkill Ripjaw X DDR3 1600 1 TB WD Blue @ 7,200 RPM No additional cards or add-ons. Only what's listed above plus the case. kvonlinee
So this one use clover to enabble Intel HD4600 graphics, search for enabler Intel HD4600 by clover. Try to work with those, I don't have that one so I can't exact how to do.
