This is my first hackintosh running Yosemite 10.10.1 with the following components

  1. Asus Z97i-Plus motherboard
  2. Intel i7-4790k CPU
  3. ZOTAC ZT-71003-10L GeForce GT 740 1GB (low profile)
  4. Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3
  5. 64G SSD boot drive
  6. 1TB SATA storage drive
  7. LG Internal UH12NS30 BD-ROM Blu-ray Optical Drive
  8. Microsoft (N9Z-00002) Wireless All-in-One Media Keyboard w/ Touchpad
  9. Silverstone ML03 slim low profile HTPC case

The first 4 are brand new and I owned the rest already. The PC is directly connected to a Onkyo 7.1 receiver (HT-R667) via HDMI. I am using a Sony TV as display which is connected to the receiver via HDMI as well. I mainly use it as a HTPC. My kids will use it to play some games.

I first installed it using ##### but I run into some shutdown problems. I then start from scratch and install using clover (v2k r3050).

what works :

  1. The Wi-Fi card + Bluetooth + Ethernet
  2. Video and HDMI audio
  3. Sleep
  4. Shutdown (99% of the time. Otherwise it reboots).

I am still googling and working on a puzzling problem until then I will post my EFI setting. My problem right now is the boot up. It crashes and self reboots two times and then stablize, and then finally I can login. It is as-if each reboot will self correct the previous crash. The first reboot occurs when the login screen shows up. The second reboot occurs past the crash point of the last time but the TV display shows a bit dim and finally reboots one more time. The third reboot everything seems fine and I can login. Funny !?

Since the last post, I started from scratch again using clover. It is very likely the last time I was using time machine to restore other data (probably some residue from the chimera) that was messing up.

Setting up the ACPI of the config.plist is always a hard part for me. If I let clover generate one for me and that I am 100% sure it will never boot up my machine. I google a few posts and my config.plist (try to attach it to share but where is the button to attach ?) is a combo of these post

The boot KP problem is gone but I am having KP at shutdown at IOGraphicsFamily. I did an experiement and took out my GTX 740 card and the KP is gone. So it is due to my GPU card. After googling other forums, the fix is to install the Nvidia driver from the web and not use the one from OS X.

To enable the HDMI audio on the GPU card, I follow this post. I tried to follow toleda's HDMI post to enable the HD4600 HDMI audio as well but simply got lost completely. Since I hook up PC to a receiver via the HDMI port of the GPU card, I skip the HD4600 for now.

I also spent a lot of time on the WIFI and the BT. I follow these posts

I also follow this post http://www.rampagedev.com/?page_id=50 for my motherboard and apply the SSDT.aml to the clover. But my hackintosh boots up and shutdowns ok with or without it. Not sure what that SSDT does underneath.
