Hi all,

I've got a icon on my top bar that I don't recognize and I'm not sure what it is. If I try to click on it (left of right) it causes finder to reset all of the icons up there.

Here's the picture:

I don't recognize it from any of my "real" macs, so any tips on what it is and how I can disable it (or at least prevent it from showing in the bar so I don't accidentally click it while trying to hit something else) to prevent it from continuing to crash out that aspect of finder would be great!

Hmm, I'll check.  right now I'm at work on a iMac w/ Yosemite 10.10.1, and I can't find anything in its system preferences that would make that icon appear.  I also checked my finder preferences here and can't seem to find anything on my iMac to duplicate it...  I guess I'll have to check my system report at home to see if it's some piece of hardware that's being mis identified unless someone else has an idea?

Update:

I think I've figured out what it is - it looks like a new generation of the pccard.menu icon that would normally appear on older laptops when you insert a pcmcia (pc card) or express card.  I have no idea why it's appearing on my desktop though as I do not have a pc card slot on it (well, not yet, I've ordered the wifi adapter card from osxwifi so I can have functional handoff) so I'll have to look at my hardware list in the system report and see what it might be considering a pccard and either disable it in bios or at least move the pccard.menu (or rename it) to prevent it from being launched.
