Hi I have received my OptiPlex today and the first thing I did was test an SSD with Lion already installed from a laptop I have. This booted fine. Then I put another HDD in and inserted my iATKOS ML2 disk and attempted to install.  But it just boot loops. I tried all manor of boot flags without success. So then I tried a Lion disk I have as the pre-installed Lion SSD booted up fine I assumed that the installation disk would do the same..... I was wrong! Boot loop. What ever installer I try it just does the infinite loop.

Can anyone help me fix this please?

Ok so this a an update. Now i have disabled speed step in BIOS the iATKOS Lion DVD will go as for as the apple logo and spinning wheel but does not go into installer. I am currently using Lion installed on another laptop and the SSD transplanted and all is well but i really dont get why it will boot and run Lion but not the installation disk! Still no progress with ML2. I did try to install ML2 from the same laptop that i did Lion but no USB working and no ps2. I tried booting into lion and installing the ML2 onto a secon partition and then booting from it but it just shuts off my PC and restarts instantly. I do get a flash of apple screen. Is this just a simple issue where i need to edit the install disk by deleting or adding something? Thnks for reading guys. Hope you can help

Hi. Thanks for the links Kvonlinee.

I tried this method and it did not work for me. So in the end i installed lion using one of my sales laptops and switched the HDD to the 755. Then once that was running I tried to upgrade to9 Yosemite using the unsteal method.

After the common cant find mach_kernel error I edited the com.boot.plist and now if I use my unisteal USB install drive I can get Yosemite to at least begin booting, but it still will not boot to desktop! It gets to tmsafety.kext and restarts :(. How can I fix this please? If anyone knows please help.

Thanks

I do not yet have my HD 5450 card installed. Would all this trouble be due to my not having the card installed?

Firstly, no matter what method I use, or what changes i make to the BIOS no installer will boot! only boots on a pre installed SSD. So for all methods please assume that i used my laptop to install and then transplanted the SSD. Lion is still working perfectly in my 755 and i also had to use this transplant method to install that.

Hi. For Yosemite installer I used UNI-borrow from the TONY-borrowX86 site and installed as an upgrade over Lion. I got the cant find "mach_kernel". So I edited the com.boot.plist and removed mach_kernel string which then enabled it to begin loading up kexts. When it got to TMsafety.kext of TMsafety.net it just froze and then restarted. This method got me the furthest.

I then went and found a tutorial from cpukid (I cant paste a link!) by Google search for "cpukid Yosemite" and a youtube tut is in the results. It is basic the same method as in your thread linked above but with one or two extra files copied to ensure it boots.

With this method the best I got was this is not a supported platform reason f4208ca..... or words to that effect.

When I used the method for Mountain Lion from your post I could not get it to boot at all.

I have no idea why only iATKOS Lion is booting in my 755 as i see lots of people that have working installs of Yosemite. I know that dell used 2 different motherboards for the 755. After work i will check the specs on my mobo number. As the first method i used at least got some kexts loading i think i will continiue with that one. If you can help at all with what to do for that method it would be really great and thank you for all your help so far it is very much appreciated! :)
