First Hackintosh, Few Questions on Hardware

Hi,

As per the title, I am trying to build my first CustoMac, thanks to a lot of useful information freely accessible on the Internet. As recommended by virtually everyone, I was looking at Tonymacx86's buyer's guide, which is a great help.

My question is, can I pick any hardware on the guide and create my own build? The most recent guide (November) contains few builds for CustoMac Mini, CustoMac Mini Deluxe, and so on. I wasn't sure if I could follow CustoMac Mini Deluxe, but choose a different CPU, which of course is still in the CPU list at the bottom (say for example, I choose i5-4670 for my CustoMac Mini Deluxe). Can I do that?

My main use will be very general use with occasional music recording using Logic. However my music recording will not be a very heavy job, as it's usually just myself singing and playing an instrument (which I have been doing on my 2013 Macbook Air with i7 dual core). I don't think I'll need an i7 for the job, am I right?

Next question is, how free am I in choosing RAM and SSD? I've read from somewhere that choosing a RAM is hassle-free. Also, as long as I avoid Intel's SSD, I heard any SSD is fine. Is my understanding correct? Even so, is there a specific brand that you would recommend based on their performance? I had a quick look and I found that two different 16 gb ram kit had totally different price tags. What should I be looking at when choosing a ram, if compatibility is not an issue? I would have chosen the recommended ram in the CustoMac Mini Deluxe build, but they are not available in Australia (Crucial Ballistix Sport). But we do have Crucial's ram, and I was looking at this http://umart.com.au/umart1/pro/Products-details.phtml?id=10&id2=153&bid=2&sid=162287 , is this okay? What SSD and HDD are good?

Lastly, what should be the considerations when choosing Power Supply?

A very long article with many questions, since I am a newbie and need your help..

Thank you very much for reading my post.

Just to add, I don't think I need a GPU.
