GreenSpadez
Got a fresh install of a mac pro 5 1 clone, dual socket xeon. benchmarks great on cinebench, the gpu is good too, the lan also is functioning great as well as the usbs and keyboard/mouse.Only problem I'm having is that I can't seem to get smcfancontrol to work on this system? I use it on my 2010 macbook, so I assumed it would work on this clone mac.... am I missing something or is there another program I should be using?Only thing I can think of would be possible sensors that it doesnt know how to use or something long these lines? Some insight or some links I could read would help me out alot. GreenSpadez
anyone have any advise for getting smcfancontrol or some other software like that working? I assume I need to edit a kext or something so that mac knows how to use the temp detecting sensor parts on my motherboard?
mnfesq
Have you tried this to see what sensors on your motherboard are picked up by the OS? http://www.hwsensors.com
GreenSpadez
Thanks, I ended up getting that working and its great to be able to see my temps!Any advise for fan control? Or can this program do that too and I'm just blind?Ran cinebench again and my temps are VERY far under max, I was running cinebench that should be maxing my cpus but the temps are: cpus at 49-50 and my gpu at 58-60 (I get higher gpu temps playing video games on windows)Idle was around 30-35 on cpu and 40-45 on gpuProb just my dual gammax 300 coolers tbh and its set to stock values still. My mobo has no overclocking options so I guess I'll never have to worry about overheating haha.I'd still like to control the fans however, I feel I could turn them down a bit so so I don't even hear them at all without effecting the temps too much. Its said to max at 81, so from 50ish (at max load) I think 30 points is tons of room to work with if I wanted to turn the fans down.
GreenSpadez
I tried a few more different programs, none of them work for controling the fan..
MacUser2525
I tried a few more different programs, none of them work for controling the fan.. Buy aftermarket 5.25" drive bay fan controller, they go fairly cheap and will work with any OS.
