Hi Guys

I have recently built my new system

GA-x99-UD4
i7 5820K
Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce
16 GB G-Skill Ripjaws

And I have managed to get Yosemite to install twice using the ##### method ( Clover method did not work at all for me) along with VoodoTSCSync kext and running the kernel patch in terminal. (once using the 970 and once with my GTX 580 that I know works as I have it on a pc running Mavericks incase it was the video card causing the problems)

These are the flags i used to get it to the installer and it installed with no problems.

kext-dev-mode=1 npci=0x2000 PCIRootUID=0 -v GraphicsEnabler=Yes
(I have also tried using PCIRootUID=1 and GraphicsEnabler=No after install to get it to boot but no luck)

However after it installs it reboots and I select the new Yosemite Install and it scrolls all the text stuff but then the screen goes black.... Not off or on standby but black like something should be there but its not.

I am using the HDMI port as i don't have any cables for the other outputs on the 970 but i also tried the dvi port when I used the 580.

Im pretty sure its video card related and that i'm missing a boot flag or something banghead.gif

If someone could please help me that would be great as I loved my Maverics machine and really want to get my new system running OSX as It runs windows 8 extremely fast and i'm desperate to see how it compares to my other pc.

@kvonlinee that looks like a clover thread and im using the other installer as i could not get clover to work either but i may go back to it.

@jamiethemorris ok i switched to my 580 using dvi and can get it to install but will not display anything after it reboots and i select the drive i installed onto.

do i need to copy something (like the voodootscsynckext to the yosemite install or something? I have it on the installer usb but does it need to be installed to the Yosemite install before i can boot into it or does it get loaded with the USB?

You need voodootscsync, yes. Make sure it's set to your number of cores - 5 for a 6 core and 7 for an 8 core. You probably also want nullcpupowermanagement for better performance on x99. What is the last thing you see when you boot in verbose mode?

Edit: if you're still booting from USB though then there should be no need for installing the kexts until you install the boot loader to your hard drive. So just check what the last message you see is before the black screen. You might need to record a video if it's too quick to see it. Also booting with the flag debug=0x100 will pause it if you get a kernel panic (doesn't sound like you are though).

Ok New problem.

I have managed to get it to install and boot using clover now. BUT when i get to the setup screen where you type a username and password to use. The keyboard goes all wierd and presses too many keys.

eg. I press d and it types dddddddd this makes it impossible to type in my details and enter a password. anyone have any ideas on this?

I have tried 2 different keyboards and different settings in clover ( changing the cpu's to 1 etc and i cant seem to get it working! im so close...

Because your hack hardware different( get more advance than regular user) so you want to put the need kext at right place and kernel patch.

For my dell xps 410, i am able to make it work in 10.10, some other had a hard time, so I think just take a whole idea look, some time need to look outside the box, this solve many problem for me.

I don't know how much you play with hackintosh but to me, it is fun to make it work.

Thanks. I have managed to get it booting with clover but then the keyboard was messing up and typing multiple of each letter from 1 key press so i could not use clover to finish the install.

I have then re created a chim boot drive and managed to log in and run mb but i then had to go to work so im not sure how it went but im confident i can get it functional now. . I just need to get home and finish it all off.

Install OS X using Chameleon using these boot flags

-x -f kext-dev-mode=1 npci=0x2000 nv_disable=1

Copy over the patched Kernel with Chameleon then boot into the OS using

 kext-dev-mode=1 npci=0x2000 nv_disable=1

Install the Nvidia Web Drivers, Clover and then use these final bootflags

 kext-dev-mode=1 npci=0x2000 nvda_drv=1

Also make sure you are using the latest F9 bios.

disable any OC settings in your biso. Or maybe just reset your bios.
