Audio Trouble Upgrading from Mavericks 10.9.2

I'm looking for some guidance on how to restore my hackintosh's audio capability.

I have a Gigabyte z77x-up5-th. That has a RealTek ALC898.

When I booted from Clover to Mavericks 10.9.2, I had full use of the built-in audio. My EFI/EFI/Clover/kexts folder only had FakeSMC in it and my S/L/E folder had HDAEnabler1.kext and (I assume) a patched AppleHDA.kext.

After updating to Mavericks 10.9.5, I can still use USB audio devices but I've lost the ability to use the RealTek 898.

I've tried to follow toleda's guide

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293001-mavericks-realtek-alc-applehda-audio/?hl=%20alc898

but it's not explicit enough for me. There is a lot of information there and I can't differentiate what is an instruction and what is background information.

I've tried going through Skyline's guide but it hasn't helped any:

http://www.skylineosx.com/post-installation/audio/

I would like to get some help restoring the function of my audio board. I know there's a lot of discussion out there already, but a lot of it occurs in sentence fragments or it assumes some experience in patching kexts that I don't have. Either way, I end up unclear on what I need to do. In the past, I haven't had to patch anything myself to get the audio working so this is all new to me. I'll be glad to spend time tinkering to figure this out but I need some help understanding what I need to work with.

Thanks to those who can help.

Thanks for replying, kvonlinee. I looked through the Darwin Dump and the ioreg but, since I didn't know what to look for, I didn't learn anything from it.

I attached them both and I hope that'll lead somewhere.

I have tried replacing and removing the AppleHDA and HDAEnabler1 kexts in my S/L/E folder. It didn't seem to make any difference. Right now they're both removed from S/L/E.

Edit: This is resolved now. I must have been using a native AppleHDA.kext instead of a patched one. I re-downloaded and installed AppleHDA and HDAEnabler1 and now i have my sound card back online. Thank you, kvonlinee, for pointing me in the right direction.

The links I got my kexts from:
