Riley Freeman
I'm trying to install Mavericks onto a Samsung NP350V5C-A0NUK. But when I boot the install USB with Clover it gets stuck at waiting for root device. The USB stick seems to go dead as well (it usually pulses orange when active or idle). I can't see any kexts loading for USB. In fact it just loads the few core kexts and my FakeSMC, VoodooPS2 etc and then goes dead. Steps I've taken: Format 16GB USB stick as GUID Create Mavericks Installer with the createinstallmedia tool Copied over Clover r2988 EFI folder I've attached my clover config. Anyone have any clue as to where I'm going wrong? Wasn't expecting to fail so early into the process... Here's a shot just before it pops up the still waiting for root device line: config.zip
kvonlinee
Either one you can take out the hard drive and put a installer partition it it or you can add usb3 kext to the usb installer.
Riley Freeman
Normally I'm booting from a USB2 port but I'd already added the USB3 kext and tried it from a USB3 one thinking it might help. Like the rest of the kexts it doesn't load and the stick goes dead. Taking out the hard disk would probably work but is a bit extreme. There should be a way of getting the USB to work. mendietinha
switch ports when it gets to the point in the pic. always work here. try switch, then if did not proceed put it back in the original port.
Riley Freeman
Just realised I was using the wrong USB3 kext... It's booted further now (asking for mouse/trackpad). Finally some progress Thanks for the tips.
