marcus905
Hi guys, I'm trying to install yosemite using clover and got the kernel and everything to boot but I can't get a GUI. My specs are: Intel Xeon E5450 CPUID 0x1067A Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L with custom DSDT Radeon HD7970 with UEFI bios, both with Futomaki and a custom FB -- no difference, and a 1080p monitor connected in HDMI and no integrated graphics Renesas USB3 card 8GB DDR2 ram The problem is that when I try to boot the setup: if I enable InjectATI I see the apple boot logo (black bg with apple and no progressbar, when it's loading from the bootloader), then the apple loading logo (same as before but with progressbar, when kernel has started) and then a black screen. The pc is in the setup though as it goes to sleep and wakes up successfully, just not displaying anything. if I don't enable InjectATI I see the apple boot logo (black bg with apple and no progressbar, when it's loading from the bootloader), then the apple loading logo (same as before but with progressbar, when kernel has started) and then: sleep and wake work correctly though if I start with the -x option instead: apple logo, apple loading logo for 10-15 seconds then reboot my clover config.plist and DSDT are attached to this post Thanks! marcus905
The radeon 7970 was flash to Uefi bios or stock bios? UEFI, bios version is 015.030.000.000.002 ROM decoder output: atiromdecodeout.txt ROM download: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/135337/powercolor-hd7970-3072-130111.html ROM specs: Tahiti XT GDDR5 3GB C6111BEF.HIZ AFR FP UEFI © 1988-2010, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. ATOMBIOSBK-AMD VER015.030.000.002.000000 I can try crossflashing the card if needed even though I'd avoid it as I don't remember if my card has the dual BIOS switch in case flashing fails. What brand of card and which ports does it have? It's a Powercolor 7970 v3 UEFI, specs: http://www.powercolor.com/global/products_features.asp?id=434#Specification It has 2 miniDP, 1 DVI-I SL, 1 DVI-D DL and 1 HDMI. The ROM decoder output is attached. Try this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302753-guia-alguns-fix-para-o-os-x-yosemite/ I will try this and post the results, thanks! kvonlinee
how do you know the graphics card had the UEFI bios?
marcus905
how do you know the graphics card had the UEFI bios? I extracted the bios from my video card and uploaded it to that site. I verified also with a bios editor, and it was written on the retail box of the card.
kvonlinee
So you have a modify video bios in a card?
marcus905
No, the bios is original. I used the editor to check whether it was UEFI GOP compliant, and it was.
kvonlinee
I got a His radeon 7950 from ebay, i put it in the machine, boot but I can't see anything after last verbose. The bios com is 015.017... Than i try in window to flash it and I got a bios version 015.013... Work and give a bench mark value in window, boot back to osx and radeon 7950 show up as expected. i don't know the previous owner mod or flash its bios. I glad i found a simple solution. That why I as namy question just about the bios thing. One more thing to try, if you could get a similar GPU to test to see if it is the card issue or osx can't work with it. Good luck. HIS and Powercolor are very similar cards. Do you think I should try an older or different bios? I will try.
kvonlinee
I have His, powercolor, Sapphire all is Radeon 7950. Simple one is try with a similar gpu bios and try to have to benchmark result in window first, this is make sure the card is work, then go to OSX. i have lower Radeon gigabyte 7870 and Xfx 7850, all with the same method I used. marcus905
In my config.plist, it had the loadVBios injected already. Thanks. Tried most of the bioses but some don't boot at all, some boot without any graphics output and others boot glitchy. I'm puzzled by this
kvonlinee
I forgot tell you that to each new bios, boot without cache.
marcus905
Tried lots of bioses, the ones that work at all (card boots and starts in windows at least) all have the same problems in Yosemite. Tried all framebuffers, including my custom variant. Everything either is a blank screen (display says no video signal) or that {censored}. I cannot try anything that's not HDMI (DP/DVI/VGA) as I don't have any other display except an HDMI one. I even tried changing the Hotplug IDs and the secondary output ports in the FB but it's the same. Frankly: I'm baffled. I don't understand why this card is giving me all these problems. If anybody has any idea or wants to chime in with some suggestion or experiment to try, please do so.
