fezio
All, I'm currenly a macbook pro person but my machine is getting old and slow - and a little temperamental. So I'm considering a kick ass hackintosh with serious cpu power, killer graphics, and like 32 gigs of memory. Anyway, is it safe to do this stuff? Won't Apple go after you? For example, once I have a build up and running, and I want to download updates from Apple, and software from their store, I'll have to register with them. And that includes name, address, credit card etc etc? How could you possibly not land in any trouble? Can anyone speak to this from a real world experience perspective? Thanks, Fezio
Allan
Hi and Welcome! Is totally secure. I use my AppleID (with credit card, address) in Hackintosh, and iPhone and iPad. I update my OS X, and use AppStore buy/download a lot of apps, without problems.
rlf
Been doing it for 8 years. No problems. Apple knows about hackintoshes and they generally don’t care unless you try to make money from them. The current version of OS X, Yosemite, and the past couple of versions as well, have special exceptions built in that allow some hackintosh software to function easily (AppleKextExcludeList.kext). fezio
hey thanks for the reassurances. Gotta laugh over the builtin special exceptions...
