jmjak
First, thanks to everyone that has contributed to Clover development! I really appreciate having a system that behaves more like a real mac. My problem is a minor, but aggravating one. I am using an older, but powerful Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 r 1.3 board. I am still using the R12 AWARD BIOS and haven’t yet upgraded to the more recent UEFI BIOS. I have a stable 10.9.5 system with sleep, sound, iMessage, etc. using the r2795 version of Clover, booting in ~ 13 seconds off a Crucial M4 SSD. Couldn’t be happier with it. I have even installed 10.10 on a separate test SSD and it boots and runs fine with r2795. The problem is that I am trying to upgrade to Clover r29XX (have tried from r2953 up to the most recent r2988) and am running into incredibly long boot times, over 10 minutes. I’m booting with a Clover setup on a test USB stick (GUID partition, FAT32 formatted using newfs_msdos -v EFI -F 32 /dev/rdisk4s1) and I can get it booting eventually into 10.9.5. I’m using the same HFSPlus-64.efi, DSDT, SSDT, FakeSMC, config.plist, etc. files as the r2795 version on my SSD boot drive. I created the r29XX with a fresh, erased drive. I can tell from the bootlog files from both r2795 and r29XX that there has been some major changes to the way Clover is initialized, which is where I think my problems lie. The most important parts of the respective bootlogs are included below. There are two separate steps in the loading of r29XX Clover before I get to the GUI screen that are taking an incredible amount of time (highlighted in purple). The times are the about the same for both r2953 and r2988. I’ve searched at length on this site to figure out what is going on and how to fix it. I’ve made sure in config.plist that I set Clover not to log on boot and have even tried setting the default boot volume to the USB in the Boot settings in config plist. Because the first long delay occurs before Clover even loads, I doubt the problem lies in config.plist settings. For anyone that is familiar with the changes between r2795 and 29XX, are these long boot times a result of using a USB test drive and/or not using a UEFI BIOS (or both)? I’d really like to be using the most current version of Clover, but it’s frustrating that I might have to wait over 10 minutes for my system to boot up each day. I’m hesitant to install r29XX on my stable SSD boot drive to test if the boot times decrease. Thanks for any suggestions! K2`
Just wanted to chime into this one. I had a similar problem with it stalling at the same spot for about 4 mins before booting into clover menu. I changed my EFI over to BiosBlockIO and it fixed my booting issues.
