I am trying to upgrade my hackintosh to Mavericks or Yosemite and I am needing some guidance on how to do this. I bought this hackintosh from someone 4 years ago and I just want to know if its possible to upgrade. Here are my current specs:

Motherboard: GA-p55a-UD4p (Rev. 1.0) Bios Version F11 1156 socket

CPU: Intel Core i7 2.80 GHz

Current OS: 10.6.8

RAM: 2 8GB sticks of ddr3 1600 corsair vengeance

Video: Nvidia GTX 285 mac version

I have been trying to get help over at Tonymac but nobody responds to my post. The information I get from Tonymac says to go to the app store and download the new OS but I can't even do that. I get an error message saying that "this file cannot be downloaded to this machine". Im totally at a loss as how to go about this upgrade. PLEASE HELP

Ok the reason why you would get that message about this file cannot be loaded to this machine is because as far as I am aware - you cannot upgrade from Snow Leopard to Yosemite directly (from the Mac App Store).  You would first have to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion (or Mavericks) and then upgrade to Yosemite.  Although I am happy to be proven wrong and corrected on that

You might also have trouble with getting your graphics acceleration (for video playback and games) to work with a GTX285 under Yosemite as it is quite an old card nowdays and may not be supported under Yosemite

Also a quick check of the Mac App Store just now seems to indicate that the Mavericks install download has been taken down from the front page and a quick search on there seems to not find any trace of the Mavericks installer on the site anymore.
