The HotISO is just JaS' original DMG file repacked into RAR. The DMG file is a compressed DMG. None of the utilities in Windows or Linux that usually deal with DMG's will successfully open it. If you convert it to an iso, it will be smaller than the original iso and will not boot. It probably is missing the boot sector during the conversion. This DMG can only be opened from within OSX. There is a long thread on this board where many people tried to crack it and couldn't.

Go get the 10.4.7 iso repack file. It was created by opening the DMG on OSX and then converting that to an iso.

Well the solution to your problem is not an easy one, there is a dvd out called 10.4.7 iso repack for ppl that cant get the dmg working in windows. You will need to download this iso and use it.Or you can install an older verison of os x and burn the dmg to a dvd with disk utiltiy.

JAs and rammjet thankz for the replys

i have in vmware the 10.4.1 from maxxuss and i installed the DVD burner correctly

i tried to put the dmg in the drive (via daemon) and when the OSX boot it refused to load my disk (non osx system disk found ...something like this)

the DVD is 3GB again???or its smaller size?

anyway thankz ,i will speak with my bro for the other "solution"

i think that the problem is in the ISO file i extracted from .DMG

i just noticed that

its only 125KB!!!

Windows can only see some boot files on the iso. The rest is in OSX format that Windows can't read.

Stop trying to use the DMG file and get another iso.

Once you are in OSX, you can extract the DMG...but what would be the point...you already have OSX then.

noway downloading again 3GB!

if there was a good source ok,but from demo and pi_bay it will take 1 week+ to finish the download ,you know what i mean

(also tommorow the goatsecx DVD 10.4.6 will finish the d/l :censored2:

but for now...

i think i will be able to fix this with TransMAc

it could open the DMG succesfully ,read ALL the mac files

and write now i burn this to a DVD

it takes much time to finish "expanding compressed disk image" but it will finish and then write the DVD

of course something bad will happen but it worth the try :(

if i fix it you must pin this topic :(

That was one of the first things tried. The iso that it generates is smaller than the original iso that JaS created.

If you try to copy the files from the opened DMG, you won't copy the invisible files and the boot files.

ok the DVD is ready :)

problems...

i can pass the error i had before ,it goes through grey screen and it loads forever

i go through -v mode and it loads and loads things forever

should i specify something in -v -x mode or what?

something with the switches?

i start to blv that the problem may just be at the DVD cause it did about 20 minutes to finish it

if now that i am in -v mode ,stops what should i write to start the installation

at least now,i can see if it stoped or just takes time to load things/drivers etc.

EDIT: IT GOES BLUE NOW AND THE CURSOR IS THERE...I THINK IT WILL START INSTALLATION

OK THE PROBLEM IS

at the DVD

dont mean that its writen corrupted

or missing files

its like its a DVD with scratches on it and it loads it forever

i can hear the sound on the DVD spining forever

look where i am now

xxxxxtk9.jpg

it did 15 minutes to pass through this screen

is there any way you think to do the same things in transmac

but choose a virtual recorder?

like nero's?

not write in a real DVD disk but in an iso at my disk

the DVD took 30 minutes to complet and i think it messed up

but transmac WORKS!

the prove is at the screenshot :)

Hello JaS!

I have the same problem ("System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist not found") using the 10.4.7 iso repack. But the problem occured only recently, after I upgraded my motherboard and processor from P4 @ 2.8 GHz & ASUS mobo to Core 2 Duo E6400 & ASUS mobo. Using the same burned DVD (which worked flawlessly before), it stucks at that error.

Any ideas and/or sugestions?

Thanks, I'm waiting for your answer...

I was having this same problem and I went in to my VMWare settings and set my memory to "Fit all virtual memory into reserved host RAM". Then I went into the "Devices" tab and unchecked "Disable Autorun on the host". When I rebooted it began to install OSX without problems. I don't think it has anything to do with the memory but probably may have something to do with the autorun.

  • 1 month later...

When you boot the install DVD, it asks you to "press any key to install" or "F8 for boot options" and there is a countdown timer going. Press "any key" before the countdown timer runs out. If you don't, the DVD tries to boot the OSX installation which you have not yet installed. It looks for the file in the (nonexistent) installation and can't find it because it has not yet been installed.

What packages did you select in the Customize window during installation?

That was my problem, i didnt add the sse2, or intel package. So now its working, I got OSX installed on VMware, its a little slow so when I buy a dvd burner ill install native, But here is a screenshot.

And for anyone interested, My system is

Dell Latitude 120L

1.7ghz Pentium M

512MB Ram

Intel Integrated Graphics 915

Has MMX, SSE, SSE2 support.
