beastybell
Hello all, I have spent some time testing all beta builds in hope that in the final build my external audio card - NI AudioKontrol 1 will work. My system is Asus Maximus Formula Vi, GTX 560ti DiCu II, i7 4770k. Sys spec is iMac 14.2. I got almost everything working, even the Wifi, the only thing left is the Bluetooth and to fix my audio problem. So after months of testing, enabling, disabling, deleting and reinstalling, I found the problem to resides in the CPU frequencies. I get the same effect under windows if EIST is enabled in bios. I have fixed my freqs in bios to be stable 3.5 ghz, but for some reason under OSX it does not work. Also I have disabled all power saving features, EIST and turbo. My CPU clock goes crazy up and down under OSX, but if I open a music app, either Synthesizer, or play music on iTunes, the stuttering is gone and the freqs are stable 3.2-.3.5 ghz. Please please please if someone know how to fix this ( probably power management kext), help me. Soon my Cubase will arrive and I want my low latency AK1 to work normally. P.S. X-Fi USB works flawlessly as the integrated ALC 1150 audio, only external ( high powered or sensitive cards) are affected.Thank you in advance! Riley Freeman
I recently replaced my Audio Kontrol 1 because of the shoddy state of the drivers. The issue began when they added 64-bit support. Every driver since then gave USB streaming errors even in 32-bit mode (confirmed on my MacBook). Mine ran rock-solid with their last 32-bit only driver (2.3.14) on the X79 in my sig. But that meant booting the 32-bit kernel which is something you can't do from 10.8 onwards. If they had released a class-compliant firmware update for it like they did for the Komplete Audio 6 we could have kept using it with the Apple drivers. beastybell
I understand, thank you for the feedback Riley, but still, if someone can tell me how to fix the clocks inside OSX would be nice, I am sure this will fix 80% of the issue. P.S. Further tests confirmed that for some reason OSX controls speedstep as CPU ratio and clocks. I tried to manually set it from bios but does not work under OSX, only in Win. The settings are either in FakeSMC or IntelCPUPowerManagement . If someone knows how to edit them for my haswell CPU I would be eternally grateful! This is the only reason that my external USB soundcard stutters.
