Final Cut Pro X Problems

Hello! I have a machine that I've been using for almost a year now, when it was on Mavericks, everything ran perfectly. Now with Yosemite, Final Cut Pro X simply does not run. I launch it and the second I drag a clip to the storyline, it crashes.

Yes, it is a legit copy. Yes, I've trashed preferences. Yes, I've tried a new user account.

Strangely, iMovie runs just fine seemingly, but I would really rather not start using iMovie.

Any help would be incredible. Other hackintosh forums have been less than helpful.

My setup:

Gigabyte z77-ds3h rev 1.1

i5-3570

GTX 650 1 GB

8 GB RAM

Best

I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to hackintosh (since my setup worked with very little tinkering I've not had to do muh maintenance on it) but I'm very familiar with os x... So how do I go about cleaning my smbios and the other things you said?

My smbios is clean. I used terminal to see if there were any plugins giving it grief. Whenever FCPX crashes it does so with Illegal Instruction: 4

Does that simply mean that certain instructions are not compatible with my processor?

That would upset me greatly if that was the case...

Also slight change, my processor is the i5 3570k.

I had issues with FCPX back in my AMD/Mavericks days, but that was an SSSE3 issue with the AMD processors. This should not be the case with your current Intel hardware.

I've tried reinstalling it as in deleting the application and the reinstalling. Is there a more thorough way?

I meant reinstalling Yosemite. But yes, after deleting the application try going to ~/Library/Preferences and also to /Library/Preferences and delete anything related to FCPX. Also, do you have any events/projects in your library?

I've tried deleting the preferences already and I reinstalled yosemite on a clean partition and it gave me the same error.

Okay so same problem with brand new projects and events? You try deleting all of them and starting from scratch? Or at least moving them out of the library?

Yup. All of that. It'll crash even when there isn't a library or anything in the event. Always with the same illegal instruction: 4
