juanml82
My computer has a 120GB SSD with Windows and a 2TB HDD with Mavericks and a large data partition. I'm trying to install Linux Mint on it as well, but the Linux installer fails, issuing this error: The attempt to mount a file system with type vfat in SCSI5 (0,0,0), partition #1 (sdb) at boot/efi failed. So, how can I go around installing Linux on this drive? Just in case, here's how I was trying to set up the partitions. The GUI is in Spanish, but I think it should be self explanatory
MacUser2525
Looks like it is trying to boot in efi mode but it is not finding the efi partition. When you launch the installer make sure you use the efi: listing in the boot menu not the older mbr style one you will see if that is enabled in the BIOS. That should launch the installer in efi mode so it can use the gpt partitioned drive for an install. A diskutil list from the OS X install would be helpful so we can determine just how the drive is partitioned. Oh and you definitely do not want that /boot partition there from the linux installer it will need to be putting its grub-efi files in the efi partitiion at the start of the gpt drive.
