Unable to install Mavericks on VirtualBox on AMD-Linux

Hi.

I'm using Debian Wheezy with VirtualBox v4.3.14 on a AMD CPU.

Installing Snow Leopard works fine, but I want to use Xcode 6 and so I have to update to Mavericks or higher.

Using Nireshs Mavericks and the Boot-Image from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/300229-install-os-x-109-in-virtualbox-amd-athlon-64-on-host/?do=findComment&comment=2053831 failed. Even when set the CPU id to an Intel CPU.

Any ideas?

I had trouble with Niresh AFTER I got the install completed (more on that in a moment). I'm not trying to knock Niresh, it's just that on my AMD machine in VMWare, it never ran correctly. I could get it to boot, and use the machine...shut down always crashed.

That said, the problem you're experiencing is the fact that Niresh (well, any OS X installer) boots OS X, and the kernel it's using will crash under an AMD CPU. You must download and replace the kernel on the Niresh installer with one that works on AMD (check the downloads link on this site).

That should get you over the starting point.

I personally had more luck with the SoulDev VMWare image (replace the kernel).

That said, you're in for a ride with XCode 6. It crashes in a working, stable OS 10.9.4 in a VM with AMD chips.

I have a thread on the subject, with a solution, here

I don't think, that's an issue with the Niresh kernel, because when installing Mavericks native (on my AMD CPU without VirtualBox), the setup works fine, even starting and working.

The reason, why I don't want dual boot, because switching between my normal desktop and OS X is very important for me (Mails, Internet, File stuff).
