Howdy,

Hope everyone is doing well.  I'm trying to get access to iCloud to download items that are stored there from my first iPod.  My thought was to use Mac OS X to do it.  So far, I'm not having much luck.  With that having been said, I have some questions.  First things first, my machines.

Desktop:

CPU:   AMD Phenom II X6 1100T (Stepping PH-E0)

Video: XFX Radeon HD 6790

MB:     MSI 880GMA-E55

RAM:  16GB

Laptop:

Toshiba Satellite L505D-GS6000

CPU:   AMD Turion II M500

Video: ATI Mobile Radeon 4200

RAM:  8GB

I managed to get Snow Leopard working on the laptop, but it's not iCloud capable.  That's what I get for not doing my research.

So I've tried to get everything from Lion on up to Mavericks to work on one of these two systems, with no luck, using VirtualBox.  They all crash in various sundry ways.  Am I on a fool's errand using this hardware or is it possible?  I really don't want to give up, but my concern is I've got the wrong hardware to do the job.

Thanks for reading.  Looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts.
