So, I was finally able to get into the 10.8 installer after failing miserably with #####.  I was able to make it work using the Vanilla install method:

http://www.ihackintosh.com/2012/07/how-to-install-os-x-mountain-lion-10-8-gm-on-pc-hackintosh/

Now that the installer launches it get the message:

"There was a problem installing Mac OS X.  Try reinstalling."

Any comments on the obvious or not so obvious are much appreciated.

Thanks for your quick reply!

USB drive formatted in MBR

I found the Vanilla guide in the Wiki under 10.8.  Thanks for your link, much better.

I was concerned I botched the EDI and Basesystem assembly when i built the installer.

To reach installer I had to delete all GPU kexts and use boot flag "GraphicsEnabler=No"

boot

-s (single mode)

fsck -fy
mount -uw /
mkdir /kext_backup
cd /System/Library/Extensions
mv GeForce* NVDA* /kext_backup
