Hi everyone,

I should start by letting you know I used #####/##### a year or so ago to build my rig and it worked pretty well, but I never could get my i5-2500k to go faster than 3.4. I tried all the bios settings that were recommended both by mac and pc forums, but either it would work at 3.4, or go 1/2 speed (i.e. no turbo boost).

Recently, I tried changing the system profile from MacPro3,1 to MacMini5,1 and now my speed is at x37 (3.7). Still, nothing I can do lets me exceed that. And, since I did that change, my windows 7 machine in Parallels, which had a "windows experience index" of 6.8, only hits 5 or so, with the bottleneck being the RAM (which appears to be running at 1600, which it should).

Finally, I have an occasional speaker "pop" that resembles the sound of unplugging or plugging in speakers. It seems to be random and happens less than once a day as far as I can tell. It did not happen with the old system profile, I believe, but not sure.

Thanks a lot for any assistance!
