Hi,

i recently buy on Amazon the inatek Usb 3.0 HDD Case and i put inside my SSD Corsair Force GT 120GB 2.5".

This case is optimized for SSD and should give a very high speed rate on USb 3.0

The problem is that despite all expectations , i cannot properly boot OSX ML from it.

I have created two partition with OSX Lion and OSX Montain Lion and when SDD is connected directly to SATA port inside PC it works very well

( 430 Mb/write/read), but when i mount it in Inatek case, i am able to boot only OSx Lion .. ( Disk speed test MagicDesign gives 150/210Mb /Write/read)

It's very strange - i have installed USB 3.0 Kext (PXHCD.kext) on both partition and i use Chameleon 2.1 snv 1820  to boot .

On Usb 2.0 port is the same : doesn't boot OSX ML, only Lion.

it seems that there are some incompatibilities with USb 3.0 port.

My Hack is :

Gigabyte H67N-USB3-B3 Socket 1155 Intel H67 DDR3 SATA3 USB3 HDMI

CPU Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz

SSD Corsair Force GT 120GB 2.5"

HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5"

RAM DDR3 G.Skill Sniper F3-10666CL9D-8GBSR 1333MHz 8GB

VGA Sapphire Ati AMD Radeon HD 6450

Intel HD3000 (on board)

Case Micro Techsolo TC-020 MicroATX / power 400W

Blu-ray Sony BD-5300S 12x BD/DVD/CD burner

Acer S241 HL 24" 5ms HDMI monitor

My try is to sustitute the case or find a workaroud

can you give us more details from linux using

lspci -v

to find out which usb3 controller is onboard?

instead of installing additional kexts like PXHCD.kext you could have even fixed your dsdt properly to make the vanilla kexts work on your board.

Thanks DirectXtraOrninary,

I looked at Motherboard User manual and i found that  MB USB3 controller should be

NEC/Renesas USb3.0 controller

Specific -> Renesas D720200

I have installed GenericUsbxhci.kext and a new version of chameleon ( 2.2 Snv r2265) and now i am able to boot Montain lion and install Mavericks on Ssd/usb3.0 case.

Speed rate with usb3.0 is increased too (165Mb/ write , 300,5Mb read).

I have tried the case on usb2.0 and gives me only ( 35Mb/write/read).

Thanxs
