kickme829
Hi there, So i'm pretty new to hackintosh and I wanted to install it onto my current rig, specs are as follows: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHZ Asus P5QL Pro Motherboard Crucial 4gb DDR2 Ram MSI twin frozr II 7850 2gb I've installed Mavericks 10.9.4 with Chimera Bootloader , however i'm having trouble with my GPU as it's currently showing up as AMD Radeon HD 7XXX 2048MB Is there anyway to fix this and if so could you please explain it to me , I am pretty new to this so some explanation would be nice. Thanks in advance for your time and your help.
vusun123
If you are using Chameleon and it appears as AMD Radeon HD 7XXX 2048MB then it's fine
jamiethemorris
It's mostly just cosmetic, there's a few applications that might not like it (For example, DVD player), but most people don't have issues with it recognized as 7xxx. If it's working then don't worry about it. Otherwise, try GraphicsEnabler=Yes in your org.chameleon.boot.plist. Beyond that, your card may require you to edit one of the framebuffers in AMD7000Controller, especially if you are planning on using multiple displays. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/249642-editing-custom-personalities-for-ati-radeon-hd45xxx/
kickme829
If i try booting with GraphicsEnabler=Yes it hangs on the apple logo.
vusun123
Try patching framebuffer, it's better than having the bootloader to enable it for you

jamiethemorris
@kickme829 just so you know if you want to patch the framebuffer you still need GraphicsEnabler=Yes otherwise it just uses the generic framebuffer. The reason it's hanging for you is probably because the default framebuffer for GraphicsEnabler=Yes is not compatible with your card. So the first thing I would do is try a few different ones. You can do this by adding AtiConfig=(whatever framebuffer you want to use) to your org.chameleon.boot.plist. here are the 7xxx framebuffers from 10.9.4: Kext As you can see it has 4 lines which means 4 ports (2 display ports, hdmi, and dvi in this case). So start with GraphicsEnabler=Yes and AtiConfig=Futomaki. If that doesn't work, try some of the other 4-port framebuffers. If nothing works, then follow the guide vusun123 posted above. But try a few different framebuffers without patching them first, you may get lucky and find one that works for you and save yourself a little trouble. kickme829
For the personalities I don't think any of mine are listed above due to the fact that mine looks like this http://uk.msi.com/media/product/b1prYzh5dXYwSXovaFREOHNRTXZIQT09/600.png Which means DVI Dual link should be on slot 4 not slot 3? so in theory it would mean my personality would be something like this: 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 05 01 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 04 02 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 03 04 00 00 00 14 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 10 00 03
