I bought a black macbook but it came with just the charger and the notebook. No OS, No Discs, NOTHING!

So it was an awesome deal that i couldnt resist ...600 bucks brand new!

But now my problem is that i only have Leopard and OS X 10.4.2

Im using Leopard on it cause its the only Mac OS i have that is universal but i need to run tiger cause leopard still has a lot of bugs.

So im currently downloading a torrent called 10.4.6.install.dvd.iso its 4.4gb which worries me that i cant burn it to disc since it wont fit on a DVD...(ive tried burning a 4.5gb dvd and it said i only have 4.37 available or something like that) But judging by the .iso at the end im assuming its for PC's.

Im pretty sure it will cause it is an x86 computer but i just want to make sure before i waste my bandwidth.

thanks

ive seen many official cd versions which i think are ppc only. the only trouble you might have with the jas versions or patched ones is their use of a the darwin bootloader. Your macbook uses EFI, and may not be able to emulate the bios if it doesnt have the latest firmware. You said you have 10.4.2, is that an official apple version or a pacthed one?

EDIT: If you use Pacifist with the jas dvd within leopard, you might be able to start the install from OSInstall.mpkg onto a different partition, and then scrap the leopard partition.

there r many releases available on the torrent sites i guess u need to have a good searching capability..

other wise ur trying to install something which is derived from something..and i guess this will not help u a bit..

but u shud go for the actual product..

anyways..its worthless trying to install which is incompatible..i mean already altered..

so i guess u can easily obtain the 10.4.4 disc or the 10.4.7 server disc (both unpatched)..coz these will infact solve ur problem...
