boogi
I have a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 that was running BIOS F10 and Mavericks using Chameleon. I wanted to upgrade my BIOS to UEFI and read that you should first delete the DSDT file from my Extras folder prior to upgrading. I was having problems creating a DOS bootable USB, so I tried a billion different ways, and lo and behold, one of them finally worked and the autoexec.bat file that Gigabyte includes automatically started patching my BIOS. One problem -- I didn't delete the DSDT file from my Extras folder. Now when I try to boot from my hard drive, it instantly goes into kernel panic (I've tried safe mode and a bunch of different flags). Granted, I'm not sure if it's the DSDT that's causing this conflict/panic, but I suspect that's at least one of my issues. It could also be that I'm using an older version of Chameleon that doesn't support UEFI BIOS? I know I should have had a backup and alternative method of booting, but now I can't access my system, so my troubleshooting options are limited. What are my options here? So far I've come up with: 1) Try to create an OS X boot disk on USB, boot to the installer, and then try to delete the DSDT from the Extras folder on my hard drive via Terminal; 2) Create another boot USB that has Chameleon/Clover installed and has all my kexts but without the DSDT to hopefully boot into my system and then fix the boot partition on my local hard drive Can anyone else suggest any better solutions? Thanks in advance!
Gringo Vermelho
Chameleon does not support UEFI at all. You must use Clover.
boogi
Thanks, that makes sense. Hopefully I can borrow a friend's computer and make a USB boot disk with Clover to get my system to boot.
Gringo Vermelho
You can't switch back to legacy mode and just boot without the DSDT? Normally you can choose legacy or UEFI mode in the BIOS.
