XTuga
So I install my Hackintosh with the DP1 and will all the pkg (Delta update files) with me I was decided to update until DP5. I install DP2 without a problem. Then I decide to install DP5 and it allow me to, with no questions about DP3 or 4 what so ever and now that I'm in DP5 I try install the DP3 and is installing now?! In System Report > Software it says 14A314h, I mean is the DP5. Can someone explain that to me?! It's ok to install Yosemite on DP1 and then directly update to DP5, what will be the problems? Why is even accept updates that are older than the version that I have?
rodrigocunha
I jumped from DP1 directly to DP5 and it didnt go well... - My "About This Mac" windows is not displaying the superior toolbar. - iTunes still "blue", old style. Not the new one provided in DP4. So... DP updates are incremental.
fusion71au
@rodrigocunha, You might have better luck installing the public beta first (which is based on DP4), then switching to the DP update channel ---> install DP5. I was originally on the DP software update channel, installed the public beta successfully over DP4, then used @PikeRAlpha's method to switch back to DP5 .... Change your App Store URL by entering the following terminal command (all on one line): sudo /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --set-catalog https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.10seed-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz
XTuga
So just to play safe I update from DP1 to DP5 one by one (Delta updates) I have the files with me, not using the AppStore and one curious thing is , If I update from DP1 to DP5 and then try install my ethernet card, that same card will not allow me to get in in iCloud/iMessenger. In other hand to avoid that I just install the ethernet on DP1, add the "kext-dev-mode=1"flag to avoid the DP4 block the kext and the Cloud/iMessenger works without a problem in DP5 now. About the iTunes 12.0, It's a separated update, that don't come with the DP4, at least in the update file, I had to update it in the AppStore.
rodrigocunha
A hint to speedup the process: - add your harddisk to "private" in the Spotlight preferences, so it will not try to index the installation process... @rodrigocunha, You might have better luck installing the public beta first (which is based on DP4), then switching to the DP update channel ---> install DP5. Thanks for the hint!
XTuga
Yeah, install fresh DP1 then install all update packages is a very slow and tedious process. I feel that the installation gets way faster when I was using it in my SSD instead of my 7200rpm HDD. Still is tedious indeed lol
