b3rg3r
Hi Bilbo, I'm currently trying to install Mavericks 10.9.5 on this Z820 with two xeons E5-2680V2. The problem i have is that i can only boot and install OS X if i disable one CPU in the BIOS, with the two CPUs i always get a Kernel Panic, please see the screenshot of the Kernel Panic. I think it is maybe a problem with two much cores than Mavericks can handle, but i can't set the number of cores used in BIOS, maybe i can do it via DSDT patch but i never patched CPU in DSDT before. I tried with SMBIOS 6,1 and 5,1. Thanks in advance. Build info: HP Z820 // bios 3.91 2 x Xeon E5 2680 V2 128 Gb DDR3 2 x ATI FirePro W7000 Edited April 30, 2018 by b3rg3r Added screenshot
b3rg3r
Updates : I finally succeeded to install OS X by running installer of the 10.9.1 with a patched mach_kernel. The two Xeon E5 2680 V2, even the two FirePro W7000 worked out the box, I patched DSDT following your guide for sierra and everything was fine. BUT when i installed the combo update to 10.9.5 and restarted, a new problem appeared. OS X boots fine but before loading the Login Screen i only see a grey screen with the ball cursor, i can only boot in Safe Mode. So i don't know if it's related to GPU or some kext or DSDT patch. b3rg3r
Updates : I post some screenshots of the current issue, i tried various FakeSMC and also renaming to GFX1 the GPU in the DSDT, but nothing helped. I don't know what changed between 10.9.1 (when everything was working) and 10.9.5 (where i have no more GPU and i can only boot in Safe Mode). Tomorrow i will try with another GPU (a have a Quadro K4000) to see if it change something (but i need to work with dual W7000 for OpenCL).
