Redj12
Hi folks,As I haven't a Apple device and I haven't friends with Apple device (poor guy ) I grabbed a Niresh 10.9 version, made an bootable USB on W7 and installed it on my Toshiba. So, there was no issue during the installation. Weird thing : I can see the screen splash during the boot but after this step, my screen become black. However, I can hear the VoiceOver voice. Also I tried to adjust the sound with the multimedia keys and I heard the "bip" of sound adjustment. So the PC is running ! With GraphicsEnabler=No, my PC can't boot and stuck on the screen splash.I tried to connect the PC on my TV with HDMI but ...the tv can't detect the PC.Have you any idea please ?Help and suggestions are welcome !Thx

dcai777
Hmm... With a Celeron, I'm not sure if the HD4000 is diffrent. For now, boot -x -v GraphicsEnabler=Yes
Redj12
With -x -v GraphicsEnabler=Yes, same issue. Boot but the screen is black. During the boot there is this message like Unknow Cpu model. So I googled this message and many people can boot and use their pc even with this message.
RehabMan
I am sorry. Will edit my signature ! Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000. Celeron does not have HD4000. See: http://ark.intel.com/products/75193/Intel-Celeron-Processor-1005M-2M-Cache-1_90-GHz Your Intel HD graphics are not supported.
Redj12
Humm, weird ! I bought this PC here : http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00151192.html The PC destription show Intel HD 4000. However I am on Archlinux and there is a lspci command return: [red@Arch ~]$ lspci | grep "VGA compatible controller" 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) So we can conclude that the PC description on this page is wrong ! Can you suggest me an Intel proc around 100€, compatible with my PC ?Thx
dcai777
That is very strange. You are sure you have a Celeron right? A Google search of the name shows that you have the HD4000 run lspci with no options and see if the device id (8086:xx) is listed. then look up the dev. id. Conclusion can be made already from Intel link provided in post #6. Can you suggest me an Intel proc around 100€, compatible with my PC ? Any Ivy mobile Core i-series has HD4000. Redj12
You are right. I can't see "HD400" anywhere with lspci. I will take a look for an i3. But even with i3 I am not sure if all will be fine with this PC. Maybe the better solution is to sell this PC and build an mac mini config.Thank you for your help guys. So, maybe someone else will be in my case. I can't upgrade to i3 because of the poor chipset. The better supported proc is Pentium 2030M. As the integrated Graphics is the same -Intel HD Graphics-. upgrade to 2030M will not save my problem. http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_%28chipsets%29/HM70_Express.html

Upgrading a CPU on a laptop is probably not cost effective anyway. Probably more effective to sell the laptop and purchase a different one.

Do you know if there is a notable difference between my celeron 1.9 and 2020M 2.4Ghz. It cost only 15€ on ebay.

dcai777
It's most likely a diffrence in L3 cache...
RehabMan
It's most likely a diffrence in L3 cache... Just looking at Celeron 1005M vs. Pentium 2020M as far as passmark result... Celeron 1005M: 1901 Pentium 2020M: 2313 2313/1901 = 1.217 Conclusion: The 2020M performs passmark benchmark 21.7% better than the 1005M.
