Trying to configure System for UEFI boot only with Clover 2774

Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H, I7-4770K (no OC) Gigabyte nvidia GTX650, Samsung SSD, HP w2207h monitor connected by HDMI

It stops after about 20-30 of the + character are printed, also UEFI boot messes with the resolution during verbose boot.

I was able to disable CSM had to pick Windows 8 OS disable it then change to other OS in BIOS.

I know its got to be something simple I am missing but cant think of what it is.

had similar issue on a GA-z87x-ud5 th only way to get it tp boot with clover (my preferred bootloader) was to install it onto the EFI 200 MB partition on the start of the disk, and make that area launchable AKA allow clover installer to mod the MBR. other wise it hangs period. after that tell the UEFI bios to load legacy from your boot disk and it will trigger the EFI without needing to redo anything because it's already there.

PS I haven't updated my Sig to reflect the new build.

I am using clover in legacy mode works great for the most part as long as I do verbose boot and do have a issue with it not always showing desktop

I get mouse cursor I just disconnect my HDMI cable and reconnect and press a key desktop shows up.

But any attempt to boot via UEFI mode freezes at the last +

  • 2 weeks later...

the disconnect reconnect seems to be an issue identifying your Vid card, if you have an Enabler, try disabling it. later today when I am @ my Hack I'll pull my config and PM it to you so you have a template for the board. both are almost the same except for the thunderbolt port.

I finally have things working like they should

It boots via UEFI - not sure why it was not working.

I decided to wipe the EFI partition re-install clover and tweak config.plist

Also the desktop shows up correctly like 95-99 percent of the time now when using HDMI

I currently have it set to Mac Pro 5,1 so I can use VGA

Now if I could figure out how to re-enable VGA when SMBIOS is set for Mac Pro 6,1
