vlaad
I have MSI Radeon R7 260 1GB OC and tried everything I know to make it work but without any luck. 1. Installed Yosemite, which has AMD8000 kext with kind of support, but very buggy. Worked a bit with replugging dvi ports, but eventually stopped working. 2. Now I'm on Mavericks 10.9.4, the card works ok, but isnt recognized and no acceleration. Tried with editing AMD7000 kext with 0x665D1002 (the cards id) - nothing. Tried with adding AMD8000 kext from Yosemite (with 0x665D1002 in it) - nothing. So, is there a way to make this card work at all?
Grzesiek13
AMD8000Controller.kext is as buggy as hell. To use it in 10.9 you have to install netkas's package http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,8489.0.html and add your dev id. In general this thread is applicable to all Bonaire and Hawaii cards because they use the same kexts and framebuffer
vlaad
Tried netkas's package but unfortunately doesn work. Wont load AMD8000controller.kext, saying something about "failed to resolve dependencies".
Grzesiek13
Just check if your dev id is present in AMDRadeonX4000.kext and AMD8000Controller.kext
vlaad
Yes they were already in. I removed all the others ids, but no change.
vlaad
I've found a kind of workaround for Yosemite. Since the system boots with flickering screen, the solution is to plug in and out the dvi cable, but also turning sleep on/off. I made an automator workflow script which puts Mac in sleep upon boot. Then I awake it and the picture is just fine. About this mac now reports "AMD Radeon HD 8xxx 1024 MB".
