As expected, OS X Yosemite public beta is now available for download.

The public beta is available to the first million users who have signed up for OS X Beta program.

The build number is 14A299l, which is newer build compared to OS X Yosemite Preview 4 build (Build number – 14A298i) that was released earlier in the week.

How to Install OS X Yosemite beta

You can download the beta from the Mac App Store. Sign up for the OS X Beta Program if you haven’t already.

Sign in to the OS X Beta Program website, then scroll down and click the Get OS X Yosemite Redemption code button. You will be taken to another webpage. Here click the Download button below, the Mac App Store will open with your redemption code already entered.

In the Mac App Store click the Redeem button to start your download and follow the on screen instructions to install OS X Yosemite beta.

As always, let us know how it goes in the comments.

Here are the first bugs after going from DP to BETA:

1.) After boot i get black screen with cursor on it, to fix problem i need to disconnect HDMI cable and re-connect it to my GTX770.

2.) Its forgetting settings, i turn off natural scrolling... after reboot its on ( in settings its showing off but its on )...

Its very annoying and i hope it will be fixed soon ;)

Hi guys, is it possible to green (+) - Full Screen button get back to maximize window?

Tnx.

It's possible if you press the Option key. I don't know if there's a way to make the maximize option as default.

Or double clicking the title bar (except Parallels, Chrome, iTunes and proabily more)

Can anyone please post the Disk Utility app from Yosemite public beta here. My efi got corrupted after windows updated and so did the disk utility app. I cannot create an efi partition without it.

After updating via app store, the Yosemite installer deletes the yosemite installation app from your system. Just hought  I would let people know in case this happens to them.

I have found it is always safest to cache the installer app to a second location off the system incase this type of thing happens. later tomorrow after I have installed I will PM you info on the app if you still need it.

Works fine on my rig without anything significant, aside of that I've been touching the Feedback Manager several times due to the amount of smaller errors I've spotted.

...Keep an eye out for rogue weather locations reappearing in your notification center after you delete them.

  • 3 weeks later...

for those who have the message "code already been redeemed", just take a look on your purchases tab in App Store, OS X Yosemite Beta 2 should appear.

;)

and if you have error 1004, it's because there's already an .app with the same name (Install OS X Yosemite Beta.app) in Application folder. Juste delete it (or rename, it should work too) and the download should start.
