Hi Folks,

I might get a good deal on a Dell Precision M6800 Workstation (laptop), configured as such :

Intel Core i7-4900MQ : 2,80GHz, 8Mo (QM 87 Express Chipset)
17,3" UltraSharp FHD(1920x1080)
RAM 8Go (2x4Go) 1600MHz DDR3L
HD 750Go SATA 7200tr/min 2,5"
8X DVD+/-RW

NVIDIA Quadro K4100M with 4Go GDDR5
Dell Wireless 1550 + Bluetooth 4.0
Audio Waves Maxx

It seems from the All Included Guide that It could do, however :

The main reason I want to have an OSX installed besides Win7, is that I want to use it for Music Production. In order to do this, I don't care about much except :

- Getting a decent resolution to view all my tracks/knobs and automations + my VSTinstruments interfaces (No 3D involved here)

- Full Speed USB (2.0 is enough) communications to my Musical Gear

- Being able to use the DVD drive to install my Payware Virtual Instruments ("Komplete")

I've come accross this discussion on the previous M6700 Model : http://www.insanelym...x-installation/

But they try to get the most of their added GPU, I'm only concerned with disabling it properly in order to use the built-in HD Graphics 4600 and still retain a decent resolution. Wi-fi, Ethernet, Blu-tooth and even sound gear (I use external ASIO devices through USB) are of no concern to me (in fact, the less it is in communication with the outside world once I have OSX up and running, the better for stability purposes over time. I can activate may Payware VSTi by an external computer)...unless you think they are important!?

Is HD 5200 close enough from HD 5000 to be supported natively by Mavericks ?

Is my SaTA HD going to send data as fast to my CPU as under Win7 (those 7200rpm ARE required for proper music production) ?

Last thing : I use reaper as my digital audio workstation software (www.reaper.fm). Anyone can have a go at it (there is only a remainder that you should pay Cockos if you like it and use it : no add intended, I have no connection with these guys), so if anyone with a recent Precision Laptop would be kind enough to install and run it under Mavericks to assess whether it's all slugish or working smoothly with a correct resolution, I'd really appreciate.

Great Job and Great place to look for informations anyway !

Hello

Welcome ;)

You need disable this Nvidia Quadro in Bios or just delete Nvidia kexts...

Let's make it right... i gave to you a method to install OSX, 100%... you'll need patch in kernel, read more about it: http://www.insanelym...ell-cpus/page-1

How to patch: www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293503-haswell-early-reboot-mavericks-locked-msrs-and-hp-envy-15-j063cl-i7-4700mq/
