zacgibson21
Hello all, I have been attempting to install niresh's mavericks 10.9 on my 2011 sony viao VPCSC and the installer boots fine but while attempting to install it jumps from about 17-16 to 9 minutes remaining, then goes down to 7 and back up to 9 and never gets any further. I have also tried installing a known good hackintosh hdd (same distro) and it will go to the apple logo then go full black and stop. Again the installer loaded fine but would not complete the install. I also hacked the bios to get an advanced menu enabling ahci and a few other advanced options but that did not make any difference The computer had an intel i5 with integrated hd 3000 graphics and a switchable Radeon graphics card 4gb ram Any advice would be greater appreciated. Thank you!
styrian
Hello! Distro´s are installing much garbage, as you have noticed by yourself. You are even not able to boot your device. With a vanilla install method you are for sure on the save side to get your device proper working. What you can get working, is depening on the nearer hardware specs of your device. But your told hardware basics are for sure good to install OSX. A good point for you to start is this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280756-guide-the-all-in-one-guide-to-vanilla-os-x-including-chameleon-dsdt-for-beginners-updated-for-mavericks/ You could try to use this tool for doing your install: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/category/9-pandora/ Also the forum search cold be useful for you. Try to find a working built of the same brand with to yours similar hardware specs or even of an other brand to get some hints. Please put your hardware in your signature as many others have done it here. Have fun.
