Derek12 Posted July 15, 2014 Share Posted July 15, 2014 Previously with Mavericks, VMware Fusion could boot my Windows 8.1 which is installed on another partition as of Bootcamp (NOT a regular VM) but since I upgraded to Yosemite now VMware Fusion fails, this appears: Boot0af: error_ Windows 8.1 boots fine natively via Clover. Boot Camp is what Apple calls dual booting on a Mac traditionally windows I'm going to assuming you're on Non-apple hardware in this case. Where to check if Windows is booting in EFI or legacy as I am more used to Parallels than VMware, I can't find it but I will attach my settings Here the Plop screen. I have to select the highlighted Partition 4 to Boot Windows. Selecting Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 Plop says "No Valid Bootsector signature Continue boot (Y/N)", pressing Y in Part 1 VMware says "A fault has occurred causing a virtual CPU to enter the shutdown state" and pressing Y in the rest just returns to Plop main screen. Cool, right? I can live with that but it's so annoying, I have to use the VM a lot and I have to keep the Plop ISO mounted always. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Derek12 Posted July 18, 2014 Author Share Posted July 18, 2014 Unfortunately everything was in vain, when I set partitions as active I got the "loading operating system" fortunately the USB installer I made again made my computer boot and rever the partition settings. Derek12 Posted July 21, 2014 Author Share Posted July 21, 2014 /facepalm The same thing also happens under Parallels (I am trying it due to bad 3D performance in VMware here and inability to suspend a Boot camp-like VM) and I have to do the same thing!
