Hello!

Sorry for you, that your are not telling the special type of your Asus G/50. If your purchased version is the Asus-G750JM-T4014H (or similar in this part), I have bad news for you, for getting the GTX 860m working. It is an Optimus enabled model according to this articel: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-G750JM-T4014H-Notebook-Review-Update.120373.0.html.

But then the good news  for you is, that you can for sure install OSX with  the in any case activated Intel HD 4600 internal gfx.

Have fun.

I have the G750m-bsi7n23 I didnt think it was an optimus card ? So any card that is Optimus Enabled is a no go for the OSX86 Project ? Thats a bummer!

I wish Apple would actually build macbooks with better graphic cards than the intel-{censored} cards they have... I so NEED to get rid of Windows lol

Hello!

Please look in device manager of Windows or get (Aida64 demo), if you can find there an Intel-gfx. If have googled with the argument G750m-bsi7n23 and got no match for an GTX 860m or an ASUS G750.

Please look on the box, in which your device has been purchased or in it´s bios system setup to get the exact model identifier.

Every Nvidia mobile gfx card for Win laptops of newer generation is an Optimus able one. Depending on brand and model it is enabled or not. If the device is sold as a 3D-ready one, optimus should for now not be enabled. But 3D tv ready is an other story as getting the 3D ready ones really working with OSX.

As bad as you are talking about the by Intel  in Haswell architecture integrated gfx solution it is not any more. Read the benchmarks. The HD 4600 is in the range of a midclass Fermi DDR3 Nvidia one and the in all Apple devices built in Intel HD 5200 (Iris Pro) seems to be about at least one third faster as the before named one, in the range of Cheaper mobile Nvidia Kelper cards.

Hackintoshing a device is done for educational purposes and for entertainment. It is not tought for getting a cheap replacemant for real Apple hardware. It is also a process of learning by doing with getting many errors.

If you want to get rid of Windows for professional work, try to install a Linux distro, or if you can afford to spent more money, buy a real, your needs matching, Apple device.

Have fun.

I will check into that, but to be honest dude I own a real apple.. Macbook pro 15 inch, Im not cheap. I am not doing this to get a cheap version of an apple computer. I want a great gaming experieance. Most of my games run off OSX, so I want to use that for my games. I want the power of the nvidia  860m.. Apple does not currently have a video card in any of thier laptop lines that even comes close to matching that card. That is my goal. Understand now ? I thought I was more clear than that before :(

Thanks for the info though, I will see if I cant match up any of the ID's

Hello!

If you find in Win devicemanager the enabled Intel HD 4600, then you can for sure enable it for proper working and you have to disable your GTX870m. In this case I am sorry for you, because you have purchased an Optimus enabled device and therefore the Nvida gfx could not being made working. It could only be switched of by DSDT.aml or SSDT.aml method.

Have fun.

Hello!

Sorry I don´t have the same hardware. You can read this thread, perhaps one of the posts is nearby matching your hardware: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295584-disabling-nvidia-optimus-card-on-all-laptops/?hl=%20disable%20%20optimus

The easiest way to switch the GTX870m off, would be, if there is the ootion in your bios to switch the gfx to integrated only.

Have fun.

  • 4 weeks later...

Guys, I created a web yesterday, to centralize all stuff related to hackintoshing Asus ROG Notebooks and motherboards. ONLY for Asus ROG products. Not normal Asus products. The web is:

www.roghackintosh.com

Right now I´m creating all the structure for the database and forums. So, it is possible you can´t find your notebook or motherboard. Be patient. Maybe in a few days you can find it operative. I mean, it is operative already, but since the forum will be in english, spanish, french, russian, chinese, portuguese, hebrew, etc, It will take me some time to create all forum structure for all languajes.

If you are and advanced hackintosh user with ROG hardware, and want to help, contact me at nipegun@roghackintosh.com If you know other languaje than spanish or english I will need your help for sure.

I´m excited with the idea. With a little help from the insanelymac community, we can build a solid ROG hackintosh encyclopedia.

Regards.
