I want to buy a cheap, good card and, if it is possible, native on Mac OS X. I see that GTX650 run out of the box. What is your opinion about GT 740? It is compatible with Mac OS X. I do alot of google searches, but no information found about this card. Thanks.

Hello

The difference bettwe GTX 650 and GTX 650TI, is because one is unlocked(TI) to get more clock speed and other is locked(non-TI)

And GTX 650TI is very good for games.

GT 740 i guess have support, but GTX 650TI is really OOB in fact. Don't have much difference bettwe this GTX 650 that you posted and GTX 740, my advice: Choose a more powerful hardware.

GTX 650TI 198 or 256bit and 2GB or 3Gb is the best.

EVGA 04G-P4-3748-KR GeForce GT 740 Superclocked 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card

Work without problem

Does it show up correctly in system reports? If so, could you please share the PCI vendor/device ID of this card? Cheers.

I have GT 740 ,  10.11.3 (15D21), but NO inject for nvidia. Only flag for using the nvidia web drivers.

I am very happy with my GT 740. (has kelper gpu = no probs compared to new maxwell  or old fermi gpus)

I use chameleon (Clover has same options):

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>No</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>nvda_drv=1</string>
<key>ShowInfo</key>

Yes,use your guide, only use kernel flag nvda_drv=1 on clover boot argument, doesn't need install nvidia web drivers,no inject for nvidia.Thank you so much.

Follow your guide but not install nvidia web drivers, smbios set to macpro3,1,nvda_drv=1,I got random reboot when OS X log in.smbios set to imac10,1,nvda_drv=1,I got black screen when OS X log in.I have to use inject nvidia and imac10,1 to solve the problem.

Install nvidia web drivers, smbios set to imac10,1,nvda_drv=1,everything work fine. But I don't like nvidia web drivers.

10.11.4,GT 740 stop work,replace with GTX 260+,work again.

My GT 740 works normal after update 10.11.4.

Same as before:

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>No</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>nvda_drv=1</string>
<key>ShowInfo</key>

And update the Nvidia Web driver also (after every OS X Update).
But even without Web Driver (because Nvidia driver comes a day later) the 740 GT should work.

My Nvidia driver app isn't showing. I downloaded the new app but it never shows in my apps. The reason I am looking is my system preference folder will not show anything. It shows up but nothing. I was doing some research and it appears that nvidia drivers might cause this. If I go to about this mac it shows "EVGA GeForce GT 740 0 MB" does the zero meg mean its not really installed? I am 10.11.2 currently.

I just checked (Im spelling this out in case Im doing something stupid, newbie) by launching the mounting the efi folder. Selected the config.plist file and drug it onto the ares logo and it launched. The box on the graphics tab next to NVidia was checked, I unchecked it and restarted but nothing changed. I tried reinstalling the nvidia driver but I get the same thing it never launches and it never shows in the apps folder. I double checked the system preferences and it is still blank. I will double check the 10.11.0 install but I am pretty sure that one shows.

I have a hackintosh and it is working beautifully. Now the irony, my Mac Pro 1,1 (which has been flashed to be a 2,1 and 64bit EFI to run Yosemite) has a GT740 and it gets no picture whatsoever.

I installed Yosemite 10.10.5, Nvidia Web Driver for 10.10.5 (latest f06 I believe), CUDA drivers, card has the power going into it from the board via 6pin and have tried in all possible pci-e slots. I installed Yosemite and all of this on the original 7000 series 256mb Nvidia card and then once all of this was installed, I shut down the machine, uninstall the original card, install the GT740, power up, pram reset, and after the second chime I allow the system to start.

Black screen, nothing more. Sometimes the machine will just sit there, sometimes it will just restart on its on accord.

I am running the DVI cable from the only output I can utilise which is the DVI-I output. It also has a DVI-D and Mini-HDMI outputs.

Any ideas?
