Safari Crashes When Playing Video

Interesting problem here: Playing videos, whether that be via Flash or HTML5 video, causes my machine to lock up and then reboot. This only happens in Safari - trying the same videos in Firefox works fine. Windows works fine regardless, so this isn't a hardware issue.

Before this started, the videos were visually a garbled mess for a few minutes, or for a few browser refreshes, before starting to work fine for the rest of the booted session. (This only happened in 10.9, 10.10 worked fine.)

So far, I've tried:

  • Updating to 10.9.4
  • Rebooting into 10.10 DP2 and trying there (the crash still occurs)
  • Trying to boot from Chameleon instead of Clover
  • Trying without the patched AppleHDA
  • Rebooting, rebooting, rebooting...

My system is:

  • Core i5 4770K
  • Gigabyte Z87X-OC
  • nVidia GeForce GTX 770 / nVidia GeForce GTX 560 (used for PhysX in Windows)
  • Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 (10.9.3 did this too, as did 10.10 DP2)
  • Clover bootloader (v2721)

Kexts:

  • FakeSMC (with plugins)
  • Patched ALC889 AppleHDA
